LOCK HAVEN -- The Alzheimer's and Caregivers' Support Group will meet Tuesday, Sept. 12, at 7 p.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
Jeff Bayliff of Hear the Birds Sing Hearing Aid Center in Lock Haven and State College will be the guest speaker. His presentation will be entitled "Hearing Loss and Dementia." Research shows that hearing loss may be a contributing factor to dementia risk over time and treating hearing loss may lower the risk.
Bayliff first came to Lock Haven as the minister of the First Baptist Church. After leaving full time ministry, he began an apprenticeship in the hearing aid industry. He is now licensed in Virginia and Pennsylvania and is nationally board certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences. Jeff established his business in Lock Haven over 11 years ago and writes monthly articles on hearing healthcare for The Express.
The Support Group is gearing up for the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's on Oct. 7 in South Williamsport and will be accepting donations at the September meeting. Those who wish to support the Clinton Support Group team with an on-line donation can do so at act.alz.org/goto/clintonsupportgroup or by calling Fran Decker, Support Group Facilitator at 570-748-4302.
