LOCK HAVEN -- The Covenant Cafe, an early stage Alzheimer's activity group, will be holding a picnic at the Nature Park in McElhattan on Tuesday, Sept. 5, from 1-3 p.m.
Participants can either meet at the park or car pool from Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Food and table service will be provided. In the event of rain, an indoor picnic will be held at the church.
The group will paint rocks to add to the Rockerpillar at the Nature Park. The Rockerpillar was started by four-year-old Ronnie Munro, a student at Infant Development whom the Covenant Cafe participants met at their Easter Egg Hunt in April.
Afterwards, Covenant Cafe volunteer Kitty Oechler will lead the group in some outdoor Tai Chi.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Outreach and Witness Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer's Support Group and the Alzheimer's Association.
Participants in this group are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible.
Individuals and families who are interested in being involved in this special program which meets the first and third Tuesday from 1-3 p.m. are invited to call Fran Decker, MSW at 570-748-4302 or 570-263-2084 for more information.
