Clinton County Drug Take Back week is Oct. 16-20

LOCK HAVEN -- Clinton County Drug Take Back Week is closing in.

Clinton County District Attorney Dave Strouse announced Clinton County Drug Take Back week will be from Oct. 16 through Oct. 20.

The weeklong program is being held in conjunction with the DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Initiative to dispose of expired and unused prescription medications before they can get into the hands of young people.

According to the 2016 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, more than 11.5 million people age 12 and older misuse a prescription pain reliever each year. More than 40 percent of those drugs are obtained from friends and family members -- typically without their knowledge.

"Please take the time to help your family members, especially the elderly, clean out their unwanted and expired medication and take them to one of the 5 Medication Drop Boxes located throughout Clinton County," a release from Strouse via Crimewatch said.

Drop Box Locations include:

-- Lock Haven City Hall, 20 E. Church St., Lock Haven

-- Lock Haven Garden Building, 232 E. Main St., Lock Haven

-- Pine Creek Police Department, 31 Municipal Drive, Avis

-- Renovo District Court, 112 Ninth Street, Renovo

-- Pennsylvania State Police-Lamar, 113 Boyd Road, Mill Hall
