CURTIN'S

APPLE FEST

Curtin Village is having their fall Apple Fest tomorrow from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. This is fun for the whole family. There will be children's games, face painting, pop-up photos with goats, tours of the mansion and furnace, foods and so much more. Irish music will be provided by the State College Area Irish Sessions between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

And, because it's an Apple Fest there will be all kinds of apples...apple butter making, apple cider, caramel apples, apple desserts.

Grilled chicken and corn on the cob will be ready for eat-in or take-out beginning at 11 a.m. Chef of the day is Shaun Dale of The Old Corner Grill and Bottle Shop, in Lock Haven.

If you are a baker, bring your prize apple dessert and enter it (at no charge) in the “Apple Dessert Baking Contest.” Expert judges (wink, wink) will announce the top three winners to be crowned “Curtin Apple Fest Apple Dessert Baker Extraordinaire." Desserts should be entered before noon at the Carriage House at Curtin Village for judging. After judging, it is dessert time for all.

Bring your own bottle or jug to buy fresh pressed (unpasteurized) cider for $5/quart. Or, buy a souvenir cup for $3.

Tickets to enter the Oct. 7 Curtin Village Apple Fest Fundraiser are $5 per person (children under 10, enter free).

The events and food are ala carte, but you can get an “All Apple (Fest) Access” Ticket for $30 which gets you entrance, BBQ chicken, an apple dessert, apple cider, a caramel apple, a goat photo, tours of the mansion and furnace and lots of fun activities for children. Any unused portion is simply a donation toward the efforts to save Curtin. You can purchase the PASS online at curtinvillage.com (or, at the gate at the event.)

Since this is a fundraiser, you can simply DONATE to the preservation efforts, especially, if you cannot attend: www.curtinvillage.com/donate.html

Curtin Village is located at 251 Curtin Road, Howard.
