CHICKEN N' WAFFLES
Liberty Baptist Church is holding a chicken and waffles dinner on Friday, Oct. 20, from 4-7 p.m. Take out only with curb pickup. The meal will include the chicken and waffles, mashed potatoes, gravy, apple sauce and desserts. Meal pre-orders should be called to 570-962-2214. The price of the meal is by donation only. The proceeds from the meal will go towards Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes (buying supplies to put into shoeboxes and paying the $10 shipping fee for each box.)
TURKEY SHOOT
Liberty Township Sportsmen's Club is having a Turkey Shoot tomorrow at 1 p.m. Sign-ups begin at noon. The cost is $13 with a bonus round for another $1. Food and drinks will be available for purchase during the afternoon.
A muzzleloader shoot will also be held, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the rifle range. Registration begins at 9 a.m.
Please check the website, www.libertysportsmen.com, for the shooting schedule changes that will be happening in 2024.
FIRE CO. EVENTS
There will be a public gun auction at the Centre Hall Fire Company on Oct. 14 beginning at 10 a.m. Doors open at 9 a.m. The fire company will have breakfast sandwiches and lunch items for sale during the auction. Fire station is located at 134 N. Witmer Ave., Centre Hall.
Stock up for the winter with Mr. Sticky sticky buns that will be sold at the Centre Hall Fire Company on Saturday, Oct. 21. Sales begin at 6 a.m., $5 each. Advance sales can be called into the fire hall at 814-364-1816; must leave name, phone number, quantity and approximate pick-up time. Orders must be picked up by 11 a.m. Pay when you pick up with cash or check only to CHFC.
Walker Township Fire Company in Hublersburg will host their raffle at the fire station on Oct. 21 from 5-10 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Must be 21 with photo ID to enter.
Howard Fire Company's Annual Punkin Chunkin Festival will be held at Bald Eagle State Park on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Food, craft vendors, hay rides and flying pumpkins will be happening all day long. Come on out for a day filled with fun for the whole family!
Howard Fire Company's gun raffle will be on Nov. 11 from noon until 5 p.m.
Centre Hall Fire Company monthly Bingo will be held on the first Friday of each month through May 2024. The next Friday night Bingo will be held on Nov. 3. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird games are at 6:30 p.m. and regular games start at 7 p.m. Food and rip tickets are also available.
BINGOS
Keystone Babe Ruth Bingo will be held this weekend. Oct. 14 the Bingo will benefit the YMCA Backpack Program and on Oct. 15 there will also be a Bingo benefit. Doors open at 11 a.m. and games begin at 1 p.m. KBR Bingo is located on the 3rd floor of the Piper Museum building in Lock Haven.
The Howard VFW Auxiliary is holding a cash Bingo on Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Yearick Center, (the Howard Fire Hall). Doors open at noon and Bingo begins at 2 p.m. Tickets are $25 and can be obtained at the VFW Club, by calling 814-625-2543 or from any auxiliary member. Must be 21 to play this Bingo. Rip tickets, 50/50, Chinese auction and food will also be available.
The Clinton/Centre County Baseball Hall of Fame is hosting a Cash Bingo fundraiser at the Beech Creek Fire Company Social Hall on Sunday, Oct. 29. The doors will open at 11 a.m. and Bingo begins at 1 p.m. The tickets will be $25 with only 100 tickets being sold. There's only a limited supply of tickets left yet!
In addition to Bingo there will be food, raffle basket prizes, rip tickets and a 50/50 drawing. Tickets can be reserved by calling Terry at 814-422-8030.
FALL GATHERING
As the days grow shorter so much sad news surrounds us, Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ wishes to offer an evening of light, laughter and encouragement.
Join them for an evening of snacks, songs and stories on Sunday evening, Oct. 22, from 5-7 p.m. Share your stories to make people laugh, be encouraged and remember the goodness and mercy of the Lord.

LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions Food Bank will be open on Monday, Oct. 16, for residents that live in Beech Creek Borough and BC Township along with Centre County residents that live in the Lions coverage area that missed their distribution earlier this month. Food Bank hours are from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Beech Creek Elementary School. Bring your sturdy boxes back each month for reuse with the food bank aid.
Howard Area Lions have their 2024 Lottery calendars on sale now. See any Lion to buy your year-long calendar for just $10. You'll have over 300 chances to win during 2024!
On Oct. 13 and Oct. 14 our local Lions will be collecting donations for programs to help the blind during White Cane Days. Drop a few dollars in the collection cans for the Lions who will be at the bank and Lyken’s Market in Beech Creek.
Howard Area Lions Bingo will be held on Thursday evening, Oct. 26, at the BC-B Fire Company social hall building. Doors open at 5:30 and Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
WINE FEST
Haven's Wicked Wine Fest will be held on Saturday, Oct. 21, from 12-5 p.m., at the Castanea Fire Company picnic grounds. Over 10 wineries will be uncorking their bottles for the wine tasting. There will be food, drinks, basket raffles and entertainment. Tickets are available by calling Kim Willits at 570-660-5872 or by visiting the Facebook page, Haven's Wicked Wine Fest.
COUNTRY JAM
Back Porch String Band will be having their monthly Country Jam at the Yearick Center (Howard Fire Hall) on Sunday, Oct. 22. Bring your instrument and strum along or just sit and enjoy the music. Bring a snack to share for the afternoon of toe-tapping, hand clapping tunes from 2-6 p.m. A donation basket is passed with the funds collected benefitting the Howard Fire Company.
