Stop by Downtown Rotary’s open house on Oct. 17

LOCK HAVEN -- I want to help but I can't find the time.

I'm looking for a way to give back but I have a lot on my plate.

I believe in world peace but I'm just one person.

If thoughts like these have crossed your mind, try a little Rotary magic. Members of Rotary know that when everyone gives a little time and effort, something big gets done!

The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven invites you to an open house Tuesday, Oct. 17, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Poorman Gallery, 352 E. Water St., Lock Haven.

It's informal. Stop by to say hello, enjoy snacks and get a glimpse of how "the magic" works.

Why Rotary? The club members are happy to tell you. They'll share their interest in the club's projects, which include the Little Red Libraries around town, Flags of Honor for Memorial Day, Angel Lights luminaries on 9/11 and gift bags for veterans in nursing homes.

Every year, the club donates thousands of dollars to local nonprofit groups. It supports the downtown. It gives three scholarships and co-sponsors the student club Interact at Central Mountain High School. The Rotarians have also helped families -- from those who live in Clinton County to those in Ukraine. They've aided disaster victims, supported the fight to stamp out polio and provided back-to-school help for local kids.

The club meets Tuesdays from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in Poorman Gallery. The members simply do what they can, when they can and enjoy watching their joint efforts make a difference.

Club President Marianne Lotfi said, "Downtown Rotary is always looking for ways to make our community and our world a little bit better. If this is also the way you think, we'd really like to meet you!"

The open house is designed to be fun and low-key. We're hoping to meet new people and chat. Friends of the club are invited, too. Stop in, say hi and catch up.
