TROMBONES
The Penn State Trombones will be at Howard United Methodist Church on Sunday morning, Nov. 12. If you haven't had the chance to hear them you won't want to miss them. The service starts at 9 a.m. and everyone is welcome! Please consider bringing some cash to throw in the trombone case to help the students to help with their musical studies.
LEARNING HOME SKILLS
If you’re interested in learning or sharing traditional homesteading skills that our parents and grandparents used, come on Thursday, Nov. 9, and on Thursday, Dec. 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., to the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek.
Learn more about what homesteading is: cooking from scratch, short cuts, what to do with your food and where to get it, preserving (canning, fermenting, etc), soap making and so much more. Become part of a growing community that wants to learn how to take care of themselves and their families. Light refreshments are shared -- many times that food is related to the topic of the month. Last month homemade cheese was made and shared.

SPORTSMEN'S CLUB
Liberty Township Sportsmen's Association is holding a muzzleloader shoot on Saturday. Sign-ups begin at 9 a.m. and shooting starts at 9:30 a.m. at the rifle range. The pistol range is always closed during these shoots for safety reasons.
There will be a turkey shoot at the club grounds on Nov. 12. The cost is $13 with a bonus round for another $1. Ammo is provided. Food and drinks are available for purchase. Registration begins at noon and the shoot starts at 1 p.m.
A general membership meeting will be held on Monday, Nov. 20, at 6:30 p.m. at the club house. All members are encouraged to attend. Voting for board members and corporate officers will be held at this meeting.

MOBILE CLINIC
The Lion Mobile Clinic will be at the Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard St., Bellefonte, on Monday, Nov. 13, from noon to 2 p.m. The clinic is open to the public, regardless of insurance and is free. Services include blood pressure screenings, medication counseling and flu shots for anyone age 3 and over. No appointments are needed!
SOUP SALE
Howard United Methodist Church will be having a soup sale on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the church fellowship hall at 144 W. Main St., Howard. Soup flavors are vegetable beef, ham and bean, chicken corn and chicken noodle. Soup is $8 for the lunch or take-out quarts. An eat-in meal includes rolls, a piece of pie or cake and a drink. Reserve your take-outs by calling Patti at 814-625-2192 by this Sunday afternoon. Proceeds from the soup sales are used to help individuals in our area.
CASH BINGOS
Rebellion Softball will be having a Cash Bingo on Nov. 19 at the Howard fire station.
Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and games begin at 1 p.m. Tickets are $25 and available by calling or texting 814-482-0736. In addition to Bingo there will be rip tickets, raffles and homemade foods, snacks and drinks available from the kitchen.
KBR Bingo is held every Tuesday night at the Piper Museum Bingo hall on the third floor.
GUN DRAWING
Howard Fire Company's gun raffle will be tomorrow, Nov. 11, from noon to 5 p.m., at the fire station. Cash, gun and cross bow packages are the prizes. The Bingo ball game prize this year is a choice of three guns.
Thanks to Josh Collins of JAGER, LLC for providing the bright pink tickets this year. Guns can be picked up at National Sporting Goods in Jersey Shore following the winner's background check.
POT PIE SALE
Bald Eagle Valley Community United Methodist Church is having a pot pie sale on Monday, Nov. 13, and pick-up is in the parking lot beginning at 4 p.m. Quarts of ham or chicken pot pie are sold for $8. It's best to pre-order so you're sure to get by calling Janette at 814-883-0893. Walk-in sales are welcome, until sold out. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, just behind the Sheetz store in Wingate.
FREE MEAL
Howard United Methodist Church is offering a free community holiday meal at the church on Saturday, Dec. 2.
Meals are available by take-out or by dining in, but there are certain times for being served.
Take-out meals must be preordered and can be picked up only from 4-5 p.m. Meals must be preordered before Sunday, Nov. 26, by calling Patti at 814-625-2182.
Dine-in only meals will be served from 5:15-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall located at 144 W. Main St., Howard.
The meal includes roast pork, mashed potatoes with gravy, filling, vegetables, cole slaw, apple sauce and a dessert.
LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Nov. 20 for residents that live in the Beech Creek area and those from Centre County who missed their distribution earlier this month. Food bank distribution is from noon until 3 p.m. at the former BC Elementary school. Bring your sturdy boxes back each month to reuse.
The Lions business meeting will be held at the Yearick Center in Howard on Nov. 21.
Lions Bingo dates for this month will be on Nov. 16. Usually Bingo is held on the second and fourth Thursday's of the month, but since Thanksgiving is on a Bingo night the date has been changed to Nov. 16. Doors of the BC Fire Company's social hall open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6:30 p.m. More Lions are needed to help in the kitchen and with selling rip tickets before and during the Bingo until intermission is over. If you can help, come from 6-8 p.m.
The Lions Club has several fundraisers going on that help them raise money to support individuals and groups in our area. Weis gift cards can be purchased for the face value and then used at the local Weis stores. The Lions earn funds for each gift card they sell.
The Lions also have their 2024 Lottery calendars on sale. The calendars are $10 each and are good for winning during the whole year. Contact Lion Lloyd at 814-355-1776 for Weis cards or lottery chances or see any Lion member for them.
SANTA JUMP
Santa Claus is coming to Beech Creek tomorrow for the Santa Jump Jamboree. Craft and food vendors are set up at the fire station social hall and at the community center from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. Special activities are planned for the children, before Santa's arrival.
Weather permitting, Santa and some elves will be parachuting onto the Legion Ball field at 1 p.m. and handing out treats. Bring your camera for quick photos with Santa!
The Jamboree is held rain, snow, sleet or shine! If Santa cannot jump from the airplane he'll make other arrangements to get to the fire station to see all the children there! Santa has some pretty good buddies at the BC-B Fire Company who will personally make sure he makes it to town!
Parking is available at the BC Wesleyan Church and a shuttle bus running to the fire station. Some handicapped parking is available at the BC Borough building.
Chances for six bikes and 10 gift cards along with a 50/50 raffle and Chinese auction prizes will be available. Winners will be drawn and announced at 2 p.m.
CANDLE WALK
Marsh Creek BIC Church will be having their Christmas Candle Walk service on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. This tradition was started more than 70 years ago by Cora Buckwalter. Service organizers are asking that each of "the girls" who participated in any of the candle walks over the years be a part of the service. Last year the candle walk was rekindled with great participation and a really nice service.
Any of the candle walk "girls" are asked to contact Kathy at 814-880-8744 or Lois at 814-441-7053 to say you'll be a part of this special holiday service.
SAVE THE DATE
Christmas at Curtin will be happening on Dec. 3 this year. Holiday photos in the Curtin Mansion's period-decorated parlors, circa 1850 and 1950, will be taken from noon to 4 p.m., and new this year will be “Curtin at Night”, from 6-8 p.m.

HOT SAUSAGE SALE
Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek will be having a hot sausage sandwich sale on Saturday, Nov. 18, at the center. The sandwiches will be $5 each and will be ready for pick-up at 10 a.m. Pick-up will be at the front entrance with curbside service. To pre-order your sandwiches or for more info., call Pam at 570-295-9592.
