CM band, choir concerts scheduled; Performances set Dec. 6, 11, 12 and 19

MILL HALL -- The Central Mountain Middle and High School bands and choirs have planned a robust schedule of public performances that start tomorrow night, Dec. 6.
That’s when, at 7 p.m., the Central Mountain Orchestra (Grades 7-12) will perform in the high school auditorium.
And there’s more.
The CM Jazz Cats will perform at the Monument Christmas Tree Lighting Festival at the Monument Church of Christ on Saturday, Dec. 9, starting at 5:45 p.m.
“On a related note, but not a school concert, is the Sugar Valley Community Band’s Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Sugar Valley Church of the Brethren in Eastville at 2 p.m.,” Crust added, noting the group includes five Central Mountain student musicians among the band’s 28 members.
The Central Mountain Middle School 5th-6th Grade Chorus, the WIN Orchestra and the WIN Band will perform at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, in the middle school auditorium.
Then, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, the Central Mountain Concerts Bands, Grades 7-12, will perform in the high school auditorium.
The CM Marching Band has been chosen to play at a Wreaths Across America Remembrance Day later this month, too, Crust said.
On Dec. 16, the marching band will travel to Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Annville, Pa., to help place wreaths on the graves of veterans buried there, in support of the annual Wreaths Across America Remembrance Day.
Finally, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 19, the Central Mountain Jazz Band and Central Mountain Choirs, Grades 7-12, will perform in the high school auditorium.
"I work with some of the best kids in the district," Crust told Kiwanians.
She noted there are 35 students in the middle school band program, and that music education in Keystone begins in the 5th grade.
The morning before they played for the Kiwanians, Crust said the group of 7th and 8th graders visited Robb Elementary School for a "Red Carpet" greeting, then visited Lock Haven Rehabilitation to play for its residents, and then went to Heartland Retirement Personal Care Home in Woolrich and played for residents there, including 103-year-old Gracie!
