MOBILE CLINIC
The Lions Mobile Clinic will be coming to Howard United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 13, from 1-5 p.m. The clinic is free and open to the public. No appointments needed and health insurance is not required.
PSU students man the mobile clinic and offer blood pressure screenings and medication counseling. Flu shots for anyone age 3 and older are also available. For more info on the Lions Mobile Clinic you may email lionmobileclinic@pennstatehealth.psu.edu.
SPORTMEN'S CLUB
Liberty Township Sportsmen's Association will be holding a turkey shoot on Sunday, Dec. 10, beginning at 1 p.m. Registration begins at noon with the cost to enter at $13 with an extra $1 for the bonus round. Ammo is provided. Prizes will be awarded. Food and drinks are available for purchase.
Muzzleloader Shoots are held every second Saturday of the month. Sign-ups are at 9 a.m. and shooting starts at 9:30 a.m. at the rifle range. The pistol range is closed during the shoots. There will be a slight change to the shooting schedule in 2024 so check the website, www.libertysportsmen.com, for additional info.
TREE LIGHTING
Bald Eagle Valley Community Church will hold their annual Community Christmas Tree Lighting at the church grounds this evening, Dec. 1. The event kicks off at 6 p.m. with fun, games and free snacks before the tree lighting ceremony and carols at 7 p.m. This is an outdoor service so bring your lawn chairs and dress warm.
HOUSE DECORATING
Snow Shoe is having a Christmas House Decorating Contest. A list of rules and regulations can be found along with completing the registration for your decorated house can be done by sending an email to snowshoelightthenight@gmail.com. You must provide a photo of your decorated Christmas house, uploaded to the Facebook page before Dec. 15 to qualify. Winners will be chosen the week of Dec. 18.
BENEFIT BINGO
There will be a Benefit Bingo for Jake Weston on Dec. 8 at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors and the kitchen will be open at 4:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $25. In addition to Bingo there will be rip tickets, 50/50s and a basket auction. Call Heather at 814-312-2453 to reserve your tickets.
Weston suffered a stroke in October and was life-flighted to Hershey Medical Center, but is home now recovering and doing physical therapy. Jake is a husband and father of four. He's a self-employed small business owner and the only source of income for his family.
FREE MEAL
Howard United Methodist Church is offering a free community holiday meal at the church on Saturday, Dec. 2. Meals are available by take-out or by dining in, but there are certain times for being served.
Take-out meals need to be preordered and can be picked up only from 4-5 p.m.
Dine-in only meals will be served from 5:15-7 p.m. in the church fellowship hall located at 144 W. Main St., Howard. The meal includes roast pork, mashed potatoes with gravy, filling, vegetables, cole slaw, apple sauce and a dessert.
CHEER CLUB
Senior Cheer Club will meet on Thursday, Dec. 7, at noon, at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek for a Christmas luncheon and party. All club members and anyone else interested in joining Cheer Club should plan to attend. There will be plenty of food. After lunch we'll have games and a gift exchange. Men should bring a man's gift and ladies should bring a gift for a woman. Gifts should be in the $10 range. Cheer Club is open to anyone age 55 and older to attend.
LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions will host an American Red Cross Blood Drive on Dec. 6 at the J. K. Yearick Center in Howard from 1:30-6 p.m. Appointments can be made by visiting the Red Cross blood drive site. Walk-in donors are welcome. Please become a regular blood donor at the fire hall.
Howard Area Lions will hold their next Bingo on Dec. 14 at the Beech Creek Fire Company social hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m.
Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Dec. 4 for residents of Centre County and on Dec. 18 for those living in the Beech Creek area of Clinton County.
Distribution is at the former Beech Creek Elementary from noon to 3 p.m.
Toys for Tots will be given out only on Dec. 18. Volunteers are needed to assist with the food bank and registration for Toys for Tots.
CANDLE WALK
Marsh Creek BIC Church will be having their Christmas Candle Walk service on Sunday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. This tradition was started more than 70 years ago by Cora Buckwalter. Last year the candle walk was rekindled with great participation and a really nice service.

CHRISTMAS AT CURTIN
The Curtin Mansion will be open on Sunday, Dec. 3, for family photos in beautifully decorated spaces and at 5 p.m. for an evening open house and fundraiser including refreshments, lantern tours, a 6 p.m. reading of “A Child’s Christmas in Wales” and a 6:30 lighting ceremony. Tickets are $30 per person and are still available for the evening program. No tickets are needed for photos; however, donations are requested. The Curtin Mansion location is 251 Curtin Road, Howard, Pa.
Imagine the fun of visiting the unique home of a nineteenth century ironmaster and having family photos taken with Santa, or perhaps a photo standing by a red, 1929 Ford touring car, or with a 1950s Christmas tree with all the tinsel and glitter, or beside an 1850s Christmas tree decorated with natural fruit and foliage. All are possible from noon to 4 p.m. this Sunday. Your donations support the continued preservation of this home and its industrial heritage.

FIRE CO. NEWS
Centre Hall Fire Company's monthly Bingo will be held at the fire station at 134 N. Witmer Ave. this evening, Dec. 1, and will continue to be held on the first Friday of each month through May 2024. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early bird games are at 6:30 p.m. and regular Bingo starts at 7 p.m. Food and rip tickets are also available.
Undine Fire Company will be holding a Jingle Bell Bazaar on Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lambert Hall, 303 Forge Road, Bellefonte. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be there from noon until 2 p.m. and The Grinch will be visiting with shoppers and 27 vendors all day long. Food is available for purchase.
Mark your calendar for Breakfast with Santa at Centre Hall Fire Company and also at Walker Township Fire Company on Dec. 16. Santa will be having breakfast with area children at Millheim's fire station on Sunday, Dec. 17. More details on the breakfast times will be coming!

Centre County's RSVP is looking for volunteers to bring a little joy to residents at Eagle Valley Personal Care Home in Milesburg this Christmas season. There are 49 residents at Eagle Valley PCH and each has provided a list of three things (totaling about $25) that they would like to receive as Christmas gifts. Some of the resident's suggestions were body wash and lotion, hair brush, Chapstick, fuzzy socks, candy, Word Search books, puzzles, etc.

SANTA VISIT
Take a picture with Santa for free on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. until noon at Howard United Methodist Church, 144 W. Main St, Howard. Instead of going to the mall, waiting in line and paying big bucks for a picture, bring your own camera or smartphone and get a picture with Santa for free! HOLIDAY CONCERTS
Bald Eagle Area students will be performing in holiday concerts this month, and the public is invited to attend and enjoy songs of the season.
On Dec. 7 Howard Elementary students will perform at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.
On Dec. 11 Port Matilda Elementary students will perform at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.
On Dec. 13 Mountaintop Elementary students will perform at 1:30 p.m. Doors open at 1 p.m.
On Dec. 18 Bald Eagle Area High School students will perform in the high school auditorium at 7 p.m. Students of the high school band, jazz band, concert chorus and honors chorus will be performing. Come early for a good seat!
CALENDARS
& SNOWFLAKES
Howard Parks and Rec committee will have 2024 calendars for sale along with this year's tree ornament, a snowflake. Both the calendars and ornaments are $10 each and benefit the beautification and upkeep of the local parks in town. This year there will be stickers, too, for $3 a sheet. The items can be purchased outside the post office on Saturday mornings from 9-11 a.m. during the month of December or by calling Debbie at 814-625-0054.
