Leadership Clinton County meets the media

LOCK HAVEN -- Leadership Clinton County participants in January explored the relationship between the media and the public, and discussed the tools necessary to improve communication between both.

Jessica Bennett and Stacy Bigelow, both from More Than A Mortgage, spoke to the class on the importance of Public Relations and how to use it effectively. They also helped the class better understand how to use Social Media as a tool to promote their business/organization.

Representatives from The Express and The Record newspapers spoke to the 18-member class, highlighting how businesses and organizations can work with the media to positively affect a community. Julie Brennan assisted with the discussion and provided guidance on how to write a news release and public service announcement.

Albert Jones with Commonwealth University spoke to the class on diversity, equity, and inclusion. He explained the importance of each while serving on boards and committees and in the workplace.

The day ended at Schlesinger Communications where the class learned about broadcast communications from Mark the Shark and was able to tour the studio.

Leadership Clinton County is a comprehensive leadership development program for adults living and/or working in Clinton County. Organized by the Clinton County Economic Partnership, the Leadership program is now in its 24th year, with over 300 graduates.
