May 13 is deadline to sponsor a Flag of Honor

LOCK HAVEN -- American flags in Triangle Park over Memorial Day weekend is a sight to behold. There might be 100, even 150, full-sized flags flying in our downtown for the national holiday.
We can all think of someone to remember, or someone who would cherish having their name associated with one of these flags.
The Flags of Honor program is a great way to recognize or remember someone special in your life, a teacher, an employee, a veteran, a soldier, a mentor, a first-responder, anyone who has made a meaningful difference. Do you know someone who needs encouragement? Is there anyone you would like to thank but aren't sure how to do it?
You can sponsor a flag, or more than one flag, for $35 each.
Sponsorships are coming in fast, but you still have time to participate. Monday, May 13 is the deadline for your order to be received. Any orders received after that will be saved for next year's event.
The flags will proudly wave in the park from Friday evening, May 24 until Tuesday evening, May 28.
Each full-flag flies on a 10-foot-tall flagpole, and each pole holds a plaque with the name of the person it honors. People can be seen strolling through the park during the holiday weekend and pausing to read the names as they walk by each flag.
The names of those honored and their sponsors will be printed in The Express and in the official Flags of Honor booklet. Booklets will be available at the ceremony in the park on Sunday, May 26 at 12 p.m.
Corporate sponsorships for the Flags of Honor event are available at $100. Corporate sponsors receive a window sign and are also named in The Express, the official booklet, and on a banner at the gazebo during the event.
Flags of Honor is a project of the Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven, with support from two "Angel Partners" this year, Nestlerode Contracting Co. and Schlesinger Communications. Funds raised go toward scholarships and also help local nonprofit organizations..
To sponsor a flag, send $35 per flag with your name, address, phone number and email, along with the name and dedication for the person you are honoring.
