Comedian to

perform at Clinton County Fair July 29

MACKEYVILLE -- Bradley Stine, an American actor, author and comedian will be performing at the Clinton County Fair on Monday, July 29, beginning at 7:30 p.m., on the main stage.

For over 20 years, Stine has been considered one of the most unique Christian comics in the country and will be bringing his "clean" comedy to the fair this year.

The event is sponsored by Bill's Happy Campers, JJ Peters Disposal and Signs and Designs of Mill Hall.

Sweet N Savory class held for kids July 25

LOGATON -- On Thursday, July 25, Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will host "Sweet N Savory-Kids in The Kitchen" instructed by Penn State Extension, Laurie Welch.

Kids ages 5-12 are welcome to enjoy a morning of learning and creating several recipes to enjoy on these hot summer days!

A sweet strawberry salsa with cinnamon sugar pita chips and savory tomato salsa accompanied by a plain tortilla chip is on the menu for the morning!

Class will meet in the student kitchen on SVRCS campus, 236 E. Main St., Loganton, at 9:30 a.m.

Cost for the class is $5 and reservations are required to save your child's space by calling 570-367-1351 or email djeffries@svrcs.org.

Following the class all students are invited to have a free lunch in the school cafeteria.

DIY Charcuterie Boards

LOGANTON -- Back by popular demand, Kari Boyle is returning for another evening of instructing how to design your own charcuterie board on Friday, July 26, from 6:30-8 p.m.

Participants will meet in the student kitchen on the Sugar Valley Rural Charter School campus, 236 E. Main St., Loganton.

Cost for the class is $30 and will include all meats, cheeses and other items to create a board of your own.

Back to School preparations

LOGANTON -- Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will be hosting a back to school clothing sale, backpack giveaway and free haircuts on Saturday's, Aug. 3, and Aug. 10, in the gym lobby, 236 E. Main St., Loganton, from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will have clothing for all ages -- including shoes and some coats. Fill a bag for $5. They will also have several local hair stylists who are graciously volunteering their time and talents to offer free haircuts for any student regardless of school enrollment.

There will be limited appointments made in 20 minute increments. You must call 570-367-1351 or email djeffries@svrcs.org to make your appointment. No walk-ins and only basic haircuts will be offered -- no colors or perms.

They will also still accept donations of gently used clothing (no stains, rips or holes) to be used for this event.

Donations can be dropped off to the Fitness Center of the west end of the gym during community hours.

Preserving Your Bounty class held Aug. 6

LOGANTON -- Sugar Valley Rural Charter School will host "Preserving Your Bounty-Freezing Method" the final installment of a three part series on Tuesday, Aug. 6.

The class is hosted by Penn State Extension's Kaitlin Pander and will meet in the student kitchen on the SVRCS campus, 236 E. Main St., Loganton from 6:30-8 p.m.

As always the class will include the how to's, why, health benefits as well as a hands on demonstration and handouts.
