LIBRARY EVENTS
Friendship Community Library is hosting several events in August that you and your family may be interested in attending. You can check their Facebook site or call Courtney at 570-962-2048 for more details.
Art Class with George Stefanski will be held from 4:30-6 p.m. for those 12 and older. Walk-ins are welcome. The class is free and will be held on Aug. 12, 19 and 26.
Book Club for Adults on Aug. 13 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Free and walk-ins are invited.
Friendship Community Library is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 3-7 p.m. The Library is located in the Friendship Community Center at 127 Main St., Beech Creek.
BUS TRIP
The Cheerful Workers class of Faith Chapel UMC is sponsoring a bus trip to The Windmill Farm and Craft Market in Penn Yann, N.Y., on Saturday, Oct. 5, with a Dutch Treat dinner stop at Fry Brothers Turkey Ranch on the way home. The price is $60 or less, depending on the number of passengers. Pickup points will be at the Beech Creek Wesleyan Church and the Lock Haven Senior Center. Departure time from Beech Creek will be 6:30 a.m. with Lock Haven shortly thereafter. Arrival back in Beech Creek at approximately 8:30 p.m.

REUNIONS
The Schenck Reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 10, in Schenck's Grove at Bald Eagle State Park, Howard. Lunch will begin at noon, followed by the business meeting and games at 2 p.m. Music will be provided by the Lomison Family and Friends. Bring a covered dish to share. The Meckley Reunion will be held on Labor Day, Sept. 2, at noon at Sayers Dam. Lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. followed by the business meeting at 2 p.m. and games. RSVP before Aug. 14 to Pam at 814-404-4598. Bring food and beverages to share along with serving spoons as needed. New this year will be a raffle.
UPCOMING EVENTS
Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open at Faith Chapel Church on Saturday, Aug. 10, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come and pick out some nice back to school clothes, shoes and accessories for just $5 a bag. Faith Chapel is located at 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard. Clothes are available in all sizes from infants to 3X.
There will be a ballroom dance on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 11, from 2-5 p.m., at Lambert Hall, Bellefonte. There will be a salsa lesson from 2-2:30 p.m. followed by dancing. Cost is $10/person and bring a snack to share.
Milesburg's fall yard sale dates are Oct. 4-5.
LIONS NEWS
Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Monday, Aug. 26, from noon to 3 p.m., at the former Beech Creek Elementary School. Bring back your sturdy boxes for food bank use.
Notice this is a change in the food bank distribution schedule because the Lions will be busy parking cars on Aug. 19 during the Grange Fair, so the distribution won't be held until Aug. 26. This is the distribution for those living in Beech Creek Borough and BC township and those in Centre County who missed their distribution day earlier this month.
Milesburg Lions Club holds their Bingo every Thursday evening at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and games begin at 6:45 p.m.
LEMONT CONCERTS
Concerts are held each Friday evening, from 7:30-9 p.m., on the Lemont Village Green, 133 Mount Nittany Road, Lemont. Tonight's concert features OverheaD. The band has an eclectic blend of classic rock, blues, jazz and originals, featuring Rick Plut on percussion; Doug Teti on vocals; Eileen Christman on violin, bass, keyboards and vocals; Tom Mallouk: guitar, bass and vocals; and Kevin Fagley on guitar, bass, drums and vocals.
If there is light rain -- the concert is on, bring your lawn chairs, umbrellas or pop-up canopies. Thunder and lightning will see the concert moved to the Granary, so check the website,
www.lemontvillage.org, for info.
Donations are being collected to benefit the restoration of the train track side of the railroad building. Work is nearly finished, with the back exit bridge funding aided by community members, a recent grant from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and Centre Gives donations.
Scout Troop 367 will be selling ice cream cones, so make a donation and enjoy the ice cream and music on the Village Green.
Next Friday, Aug. 16, the concert will feature the John Wise Band.
SUNDAY CONCERTS
Lamar Lighthouse Camp will be having their Sunday evening concerts during the summer in the campground's multi-purpose pavilion. The concerts start at 7 p.m. and the public is invited. The concerts are free but a love offering is taken each week.
Mission IV will be performing on Aug. 11 and Justified will be there on Aug. 18.
Lamar Lighthouse Camp is located along Route 64, 2 miles south of I-80 exit 173.
FIRE NEWS
Undine Fire Company is holding a Gun Bingo on Sept. 14 at 6 p.m. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 and players must bring photo ID. The Bingo will be held at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte.
Tickets for the Pleasant Gap Fire Company's Gun Raffle that will be held on Sept. 14 are available.
Mill Creek Fire Company has their Gun and Cash Raffle tickets on sale for the drawing on Sept. 21 at the Mill Creek Firemen's Park. Tickets are $10 and offer cash prizes, 100 guns, a Harley Davidson Sportster, a H-D Fat Boy and a Honda Rancher.
Gregg Township Fire Company's annual gun raffle will be on Sept. 28. Tickets are on sale now at $10 each or bargain priced at 3/$20.
Walker Township Fire Company's annual gun raffle will be on Oct. 19 at the fire station in Hublersburg. Tickets are $10.
Howard Fire Company's Gun Raffle will be on Nov. 9 from noon to 5 p.m.
