YARNELL FUNDRAISERS
Jack Miller and the Yarnell Church want to thank everyone who bought hoagies during the fundraiser that was held to raise funds for the Yarnell Community Center's needs. Jack and his group of diehard and faithful helpers, Donna, Bonnie and Vonna, made 421 hoagies during the four day event. After expenses the profits were about $3,300 to help with paying the taxes and electric bill along with buying heating oil for the winter months.
The church is having another fundraiser, an Italian Dinner, on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 4-6 p.m., at the Yarnell Community Center. The meal will feature spaghetti Alfredo, garlic bread, salad and desserts. The cost is a donation (suggested at least $10 per meal). Sit down dining or take-out meals will be available. Call Donna at 814-880-9450 for more info about events happening in Yarnell.
Jack is also the rental coordinator for the Yarnell Community Center. A great place to hold parties, showers or family gatherings, the former school house building has been nicely updated, has an open kitchen and counter area and will seat about 100 people. The cost is $75 per day and can be booked by calling Jack at 814-699-0548.
KNIT N' RUN
My mother and I are involved with the Prayer Shawl Ministry at the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church in Mill Hall. We went on Wednesday for the monthly meeting and then we helped with covering all the church pews with the many, many items that the PSM "needleworkers" have made that are going to be given to the Susquehanna Big Twins Motorcycle Club that will be "running" them to lots of nursing and personal care homes, hospitals and other groups.
I'd love for you to see all the beautiful items that have been made before they are distributed. Come to the church tomorrow morning at 10 a.m. and meet the needleworkers, the bikers and Pastor Susan. Light refreshments will be available.
If you knit or crochet and are looking for a place to donate your handmade items to, then Prayer Shawl Ministry is the place for you!
