The Blessings in a Backpack program at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, provides approximately 80 students at Robb Elementary School with food on the weekends. These students might otherwise not have food on the weekends since Clinton County ranks eighth out of 50 counties in Pennsylvania with a food insecurity rate of 13.3 percent. Covenant United Methodist greatly appreciates grant monies provided by the following organizations that help support this program: Clinton County Community Foundation, the Susquehanna Valley Corvette Club, the Central PA Food Bank and the Susquehanna Conference Harvest Home Offering for World Hunger. The backpack program is supported by a dedicated group of approximately 15 volunteers who handle food deliveries, pack the backpack bags and deliver them to the school.
