MARDI GRAS BENEFIT

Susquehanna Valley Big Twins Motorcycle Club will have a Mardi Gras Party at their clubhouse on Saturday, March 1. The cost to enter will be $15 per person or $25 for a couple. The entertainment starts at 9 p.m. The band As If will be performing. Doors open at 7 p.m. with plenty of food, beverages and entertainment lasting until 1 a.m. Hats and beads will be available while supplies last. Those attending must be 21 and must have a photo ID to enter. This Mardi Gras Party will benefit James “Cinders” Munro, a SVBT club member who was seriously injured in an auto accident.

The club house is located at 84 Harley Drive, Lock Haven (Woolrich area). Overnight camping accommodations are offered with a $20 electrical hook-up fee for those interested. Call 570-295-2078 for info.

SPORTSMEN’S EVENTS

Liberty Township Sportsmen’s Association, Marsh Creek Road, Howard, will be holding its 13th annual Coyote Hunt this weekend, Feb. 28-Mar. 2. Preregistration for the hunt was required. The hunt will be held in compliance with PA Game Commission regulations and the rules set by the LTSA that are posted on the website. Anyone having any questions can call Butch at 814-280-3015.

The club house will be open during the hunt with vendors holding a flea market. Items are limited to those of hunting, fishing or camping genres.

The club is also sponsoring a Gun Show at the same time as the flea market. If you have guns, ammunition or anything gun related you can sell them there. Rent a table space as a vendor by contacting Butch at 814-280-3015.

The clubhouse kitchen will be open with food being sold on Saturday and Sunday of the hunt and vendor markets as well.

POT PIE IS BACK

Wingate Faith Church is having their pot pie fundraiser on Monday, March 10. The church offers ham or chicken pot pie that comes with bread samples for $9 a quart. It’s best to pre-order yours by calling Janette at 814-883-0893. Pickup is in the church parking lot on March 10 starting at 4 p.m. and lasting until sold out. Wingate Faith Church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, which is just behind the Sheetz store near BEA High School.

LIONS NEWS

Howard Area Lions Food Distribution will be on Monday, March 3, from noon to 3 p.m. at the former Beech Creek Elementary School. There’s a need for more sturdy boxes, so bring your boxes back each month and any extra boxes that you may have.

Howard Area Lions Bingo will be held on Thursday, March 13, at the Beech Creek Fire Company’s social hall. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:30 p.m. Lions Bingo is held the second and fourth Thursday of each month through May.

Milesburg Lions Club holds a weekly Bingo every Thursday night at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:45 p.m.

FOOD

DISTRIBUTION

St. John’s Lutheran Church will have a food distribution on Thursday, March 6. From 4-6 p.m. residents of the area can come to the drive-up distribution at the church at 216 McAllister St., Bellefonte. The food distribution is usually held on the first Thursday of each month, unless otherwise noted. There aren’t any income restrictions but there are a few questions for those coming for the first time. For more info call Leilani (“Loni”) at 814-548-7835.

WEDDING

SUPPER

Millheim Fire Company will be hosting an Amish Wedding Dinner on March 1 from 3:30-7 p.m.

The meal, prepared and served by the Penns Valley Amish community, will feature all the delicious foods that are expected at a wedding style dinner. The menu features turkey, with filling, mashed potatoes with gravy, buttered noodles, vegetable pizza, homemade pies, ice cream and more! The cost is $20 for adults; $8 for ages 6-12; and little ones can eat for free.

Registration is not required, just come and enjoy the sit-down meal or get take-outs to go!

The proceeds from this meal will help the fire company to purchase a new UTV and trailer.

If you can’t attend the meal and would like to help with a monetary donation towards the cost of the UTV, you can mail your check to the fire company, PO Box 656, Millheim, PA 16854. Be sure to write UTV Fund on the memo line of your check.

KBR BINGOS

KBR Bingo holds benefit Bingos for organizations or individuals in our community who need help with fundraising efforts. In addition to playing Bingo there is usually a basket raffle with some really nice prizes offered that people have provided to help raise funds for the group or individual. There’s usually a 50/50 raffle and rip tickets during the Bingo, too.

Bingo is held in the 3rd floor Bingo hall of the Piper Museum Building in Lock Haven. Bingos start at 1 p.m. with the doors and the kitchen being open at 11 a.m. Tickets are available in advance by those selling them or at the door if there’s some left.

On March 1 the Bingo will benefit the 40 & 8 Club and on March 2 it’s Wildcat Bingo.

UPCOMING EVENTS

Mark your calendar that Senior Cheer Club will be held on Thursday, March 6, at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. Anyone 55 and older is invited to join us for the noon meal and fellowship time and games afterward. Bring a covered dish to share for the meal and your own drink. We’ll be playing Bingo so bring a wrapped, inexpensive gift for the games, too!

Centre Hall Fire Company’s first Friday of the month Bingo will be held on March 7. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. The early bird games begin at 6:30 p.m. and regular Bingo starts at 7 p.m.

Sugar Valley Fire Company is having an all you can eat breakfast buffet on Saturday, March 8, from 6:30-10 a.m. The meal will feature pancakes, sausage, bacon, eggs, scrapple, sausage gravy with biscuits, hash browns, doughnuts, coffee and juice for $14 for adults. Meals for children ages 6-12 will be $7. Children ages 5 and under can eat for free.

Porter Township Heritage Days will offer a spaghetti supper on Saturday, March 8, from 5-7 p.m., at the Porter Township Community Building, 216 Spruce Run Road, Mill Hall. The meal will feature spaghetti, meatballs, salad, roll, dessert and drink for $10 for adults. Meals for children ages 7-12 will cost $7. Younger children can eat for free, or you can make a donation for their meal. Contact Larry at 570-726-6635 for info.

Centre Ballroom dancing will be held on Sunday, March 9, at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte. Cost is $10/person and those attending should bring a snack to share. Call Rod at 717-543-8348 for more info.

The Yarnell Church is hosting a chicken and waffles supper on March 15 from 4-6 p.m., at the Yarnell Community Center. The cost of an adult meal will be your donation (at least $10 is suggested for covering the costs). Children under age 10 can eat for free, or you can make a donation for their meal as well. All proceeds for the meal will go towards paying for the upkeep on the community center building (heating oil, taxes and electrical bills).

A pool tournament benefit has been organized to help the Hauser’s who lost everything in a fire last month at their Marsh Creek home. Darren and his son, Quintavius, are staying with his daughter, Ivy, for now, until they can find an apartment or make other living arrangements. Darren’s girlfriend, Stasy, also lost things in the fire as well.

The pool benefit will be held at the Linger Inn in Beech Creek on Saturday, March 22. The entry fee is $20 per team with a 50 percent payout. The benefit will include a 50/50 and basket raffle. The doors open at 10 a.m. for registration and pool shooting starts at 11 a.m.

CLOTHING

Light of the World Clothing Bank will be open on Friday, March 7, from 2:30-5 p.m., and on Saturday, March 8, from 9 a.m. to noon. The clothing bank is in the St. John’s United Church of Christ, 145 W. Linn St., Bellefonte. There are clothes for everyone, in all sizes, along with shoes, bedding and other items. Everything is free, but the church does accept donations to keep the program going.

HOWARD GRANGE

Howard Grange # 297 will be holding an Open House at the Howard fire hall on Wednesday, March 12, at 6:30 p.m. All are invited to come to learn how our local Grange is making a difference in our community.

Howard Grange is also holding a Cash Bingo on April 6 at the fire hall. Doors open at noon and Bingo starts at 2 p.m. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. In addition to Bingo there will also be rip tickets, a basket raffle, 50/50 and lots of good food.
