Updates on power outages, resources for Centre County

BELLEFONTE — Much of Centre County was left without electricity due to 17 electrical circuits losing energy after the severe storm on Tuesday, April 29.

As of 1 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, First Energy has restored power to establishments across many municipalities in the county, though many homes and businesses remain without power.

As of Thursday morning, First Energy deployed hundreds of in- and out-of-state line workers to expedite repairs and power restoration. First Energy is offering a global estimate for power restoration, meaning that most or all of Centre County’s power should be restored by 11 p.m. on Sunday, May 4.

As crew members make progress in assessing the damage and making repairs, First Energy anticipates being able to share location-specific estimates for power restoration.

Given that First Energy predicts that the majority of the circuits could be energized by the end of Thursday evening, these location-specific estimates may come as early as this evening or tomorrow morning.

It is important to note that these estimates are weather-dependent.

With more storms anticipated to hit the area in the next few days, restoration efforts may be delayed.
