Alzheimer’s Support Group to host attorney Lisa Glick on June 10

LOCK HAVEN — The Alzheimer’s Support Group of Clinton County will meet Tuesday, June 10, at 7 p.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.
The group, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater Pennsylvania and Covenant Church, is open to anyone caring for someone with dementia or any memory loss related disease and for those interested in learning more about dementia.
The guest speaker for June will be attorney Lisa Glick, of Raup & Sholder Law Firm in Williamsport, who will be speaking on the importance of Powers of Attorney and Wills for a person with dementia, the Medicaid Rules for Long-Term Care and How to Protect Assets from Nursing Home Costs.
Lisa grew up in Western Pa. and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from Lock Haven University in 1993.
Upon graduation, she served as the Activities Director, then Social Services Director and finally Alzheimer’s Unit Manager for Manor Care, Jersey Shore.
In 1996, she joined the staff at the law firm of Marshall, Parker & Weber as a Geriatric Planning Specialist.
Since then, she has worked in the elder law field until joining Raup & Sholder in January of 2014. She graduated cum laude from Widener Law Commonwealth in December of 2021 and is now a practicing attorney with the firm.
She has extensive experience in assisting families to protect assets from nursing homes and other long-term care expenses. She has helped hundreds of central Pa. families qualify loved ones for Medicaid benefits to pay for their long-term care. She also possesses a great deal of knowledge about community resources and long-term care facilities. She can assist families in choosing and arranging for the appropriate level of care for their loved ones. Lisa has spoken to dozens of civic and professional groups across the state.
Additionally, she has been a guest lecturer for the Pennsylvania Bar Institute. She has written countless articles and chapters for various publications and books. She lives in Mifflin County with her family.
The support group is free and meets the second Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the church. Parking is available in the church parking lot and the building is handicapped accessible. Sitter service can be provided to the person with dementia while the caregiver is attending the meeting but prior arrangements must be made with the group facilitator.
