MILL HALL — Miller’s Furniture recently showcased its commitment to the community through a donation to Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
The store, which is located along Eagle Valley Road in Mill Hall, donated 15 mattresses to the non-profit, whose goal is to ensure every child in Clinton County has a bed to sleep in at night.
The idea to donate to the project came from owner Jerry Blanchard, who said he’d seen an article about another donation in the newspaper.
Soon after, he headed to the furniture market where he spoke with the store’s bedding supplier, AW Industries, to see if they could assist with the program.
“AW Industries was happy to partner with us in obtaining 15 mattresses for the program,” Wendy Hockenberry, sales associate at Miller’s Furniture, said.
In just a few short weeks, details were finalized with the supplier and the mattresses were delivered to the store. The donation was made to Sleep in Heavenly Peace at the end of May.
Hockenberry noted this is the first donation to the non-profit, though the local business does often make contributions to area organizations.
“This is the first time we have helped Sleep in Heavenly Please. We do periodically donate gently used bedding and furniture to the Clinton County Housing Authority and the Millbrook Playhouse,” she said.
Hockenberry said Miller’s Furniture is happy to assist the local community in charitable ways such as this one.
“The community has been very good to Miller’s Furniture, so we were happy to be able to help such a worthy program. Every kiddo deserves to have a bed to call their own,” she said.
