Writers Network
The Nittany Valley Writers Network will host an open reading night for all levels of writers on Tuesday, Aug. 12, at 6:30 p.m., in Schlow Library’s Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Attendees can bring a short writing sample to share, or come to listen and meet other writers. The event is free and open to the public. The Nittany Valley Writers Network is a sharing, supportive community linking local writers of all genres and levels of experience. reminder
The Downtown Lock Haven’s Little Red Libraries are for reading material only. There have been well-meaning people putting in dog biscuits, knitted items and other things in the Little Red Libraries. We will remove anything other than suitable reading materials from the libraries. No stickers with QR codes and other types of signs are allowed to be put onto the Libraries and will also be removed from the Little Red Libraries. They are there for children and adults to enjoy and select reading materials.
KCSD Partnership
Keystone Central School District’s Career and Technology Center (CTC) is looking to partner with local employers to provide paid work experiences to 12th grade students. If your business currently has an employee shortage and you’re looking to hire, contact Daci Killinger, Cooperative Education Coordinator for Keystone Central CTC, at 570-893-4900 ext. 4511 or email dkillinger@kcsd.us. Daci will answer any questions and share more information about the work experience program to assist businesses with new hires.
Women’s AA meeting
Women in all 12 steps of the Alcoholics Anonymous program are welcome to meetings held Friday nights at 6 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 112 E. Main St., Lock Haven.
Greyhound Meet and Greet
The Nittany Greyhounds Meet & Greet event occurs every 4th Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Petco, 40 Colonnade Way, State College. They will have greyhounds to interact with, including adoptable retired racing greyhounds, and an information table. Cleaning up!
Since 2000, Clinton County CleanScapes, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, has organized more than 125 cleanup events, rallying together 4,569 volunteers and cleaning up over 2,432,460 pounds of debris and 13,131 tires from our waterways and landscapes. You can help impact the local community by joining the effort. Become a member, gift a membership to a loved one, volunteer at a cleanup, or donate to the cause.
