Steel Horses for Real Horses
Join Heroes & Horses for the annual Steel Horses for Real Horses benefit run, sponsored by the Jersey Shore American Legion Riders, 320 Seminary St., Jersey Shore. The event is Sunday, Aug. 24. Registration is 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. with $15 per bike/vehicle and $10 per passenger. This is a non-structured run. Breakfast sandwiches are available for $5 before the run. Registration fee includes a hearty meal after the run. There will be an “Ole American Auction and 50/50 drawings. All proceeds will go directly to Heroes & Horses. Open to all vehicles. PASR Picnic
Please keep Aug. 26 open for the annual First Day Back to School Picnic at Flemington Grove Park. Members of the Clinton County Chapter of the PA Association of School Retirees and guests are invited. Please bring a covered dish to share, your own place setting and beverage. Truckers4Hope Camping registration open

Lemont Summer Concerts
The Lemont Village Association will be having their Lemont Village Green Summer Concerts each Friday evening from 7:30-9 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the free music. If your family or graduating high school class has a reunion coming up this summer that you’d like mentioned in our Reunions section of The Express, please email the details of the reunion to us at news@lockhaven.com. Be sure to include the family name or high school along with the date, time and location of the reunion. Any other specific information (like bring your own table service or a gift for the white elephant sale) should also be included. Please provide a contact telephone number for us to call if we have questions. And don’t forget to share the details of your reunion with us afterward as well.
Blood Drives
The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!
Blood drives will be held on the following dates:
On Aug. 19, from 1:30-6 p.m., at the Porter Township Building, Mill Hall.
On Aug. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Flemington. St. Luke’s “world famous” root beer floats will be served.
