Hole in One

Dan Fravel shot a Hole-in-One at Belles Springs Golf Course on June 13, 2025. Dan used a 6 iron to make the shot on the eighth hole. Dan’s golfing buddies witnessing the feat were Guy Imhoff, Allen Justice and Dave Straub. Congratulations Dan!

Town-wide Yard Sales

Madisonburg will be holding yard sales throughout the community on Sept. 4, 5 and 6.

Milesburg will be holding their fall yard sales on Oct. 3-4 this year.

A Ukrainian Soldier’s Experiences

Commonwealth University-Lock Haven will host “A Ukrainian Soldier’s Experiences” on Friday, Oct. 3, at 10 a.m., in the Greenberg Auditorium of the Willis Health Professions Center along Railroad Street. The event will feature conversation with Sgt. Davyd, his wife and volunteers from Revived Soldiers Ukraine out of Philadelphia. The event can offer attendees the chance to understand the impact of war in Ukraine and discuss prosthetic devices in rehabilitation. For more information email fschulze@commonwealthu.edu. KBR Bingo Benefits others

KBR Bingo will be hosting benefit Bingos to help others. Please come and show your support!

Bingos are held at the Piper Museum building, third floor Bingo hall. Elevator service is available. In addition to the Bingo there are also Chinese auctions, 50/50 drawings and good food available from the kitchen. Doors open at 11 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m.

On Aug. 23 there will be a Cash Bash Bingo at the KBR Bingo hall to benefit the Alzheimer’s Association. The Bingo is sponsored by both Lock Haven Rehabilitation and Senior Living and Haven Place. Tickets are $25. Note that doors open at 3 p.m. and games start at 5 p.m. for this benefit. Call Brenda at 570-367-3767 for tickets or info on the Alzheimer’s Benefit Bingo.

On Sept. 14, the Bingo will benefit the Central Mountain Majorettes.Tickets are $25. The Bingo will help to raise funds for nine CM Majorettes who will be going to the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa, Fla., in December. Doors open at 11 a.m., and Bingo starts at 1 p.m.

Blood Drives

The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!

Blood drives will be held on the following dates:

On Aug. 26, from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., at St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 1175 W. Fourth St., Flemington. St. Luke’s “world famous” root beer floats will be served.

Also on Aug. 26, from 12-5:30 p.m., at Watermarke Church, Zion Road, Bellefonte.

On Sept. 4, from 12:30-6 p.m., at Centre Church, Pleasant Gap.

On Sept. 8, from 1-6 p.m., at Tri County North Central Church, Mill Hall.

On Sept. 12, from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., at Zion Community Church, Zion Road, Bellefonte.

Truckers4Hope Camping registration open
