The 9th running of the Eastern States 100 Ultramarathon returns Aug. 9–10

LITTLE PINE STATE PARK — The Eastern States Trail-Endurance Alliance is proud to announce the 9th annual Eastern States 100, a world-class ultramarathon set to take place Aug. 9-10, in the heart of Pennsylvania’s rugged and remote PA Wilds. Covering 103 miles of mountainous single-loop trail, this premier event offers one of the toughest endurance tests on the East Coast–and one of the most scenic.

The annual event returns after the cancellation in 2024 due to flooding after Tropical Storm Debby.

Officials, members of the media, and spectators are warmly invited to attend this extraordinary event, where athletes from across the globe gather to push their limits on some of the wildest trails the Allegheny Plateau has to offer.

ABOUT THE COURSE

Runners will traverse a 103-mile single-loop trail (98% single- and double-track) that circumnavigates the Pine Creek Gorge watershed, passing through Lycoming, Clinton and Tioga Counties. From the start at Little Pine State Park, the course heads west to Hyner Run State Park, north to the village of Blackwell and finally south back to the start.

With over 20,000 feet of elevation gain, the course challenges runners with relentless climbs, technical descents, and remote backcountry terrain. Last year’s event drew athletes from 31 U.S. states and five countries, with a finish rate of just 58%–a testament to the course’s difficulty and prestige.

RACE CELEBRATIONS

The race concludes with an awards ceremony recognizing top male and female finishers, along with every determined runner who crosses the finish line. Spectators and runners alike can enjoy local food from Real Taste 570, craft beer from Bald Birds Brewing, and coffee by Bason Coffee Roasting. Prizes and giveaways are generously provided by sponsors including UltraSpire and Hydrapak.
