Lemont to hold Soup and Song Party to celebrate anniversary

LEMONT — As autumn approaches, College Township invites friends and neighbors to gather for dinner, music and giving back on Friday, Sept. 19, as part of a yearlong celebration of College Township’s 150th anniversary.

Held in the historic 1880s granary in Lemont, this family-friendly event will start with a comforting selection of soups by Harrison’s Eat Well Catering available from 5:30-7 p.m. for $5 per 8-oz bowl, with to-go options available. Choices of soup will include smoked tomato bisque, chicken corn chowder, potato leek, chef’s vegetable and bean and beef and barley. Commemorative mugs will also be available for $5 each, making for a perfect keepsake.

As dinner winds down, guests are invited to stay for live music from 7-8:30 p.m. Performers will be Singer/Songwriters, Mary Madigan, Ian Marshall and Joe Pillot, with guitars doing originals and covers. What could be better for bringing folks together than delicious soup and soulful song?

This sesquicentennial event is also about giving back. One hundred percent of proceeds will benefit the State College Food Bank. Donations will be accepted in cash, by check payable to “State College Food Bank” or through Venmo.

Reservations are appreciated, though not required. Completing a quick reservation form will help to ensure plenty of soup and mugs for everyone.
