Two local organizations receive grant funds from PPL Foundation
Two Clinton County organizations were among 12 non-profits to receive a portion of $113,000 in grant funding through the PPL Foundation through its Empowering Communities Grants.
These grants will help fund programs that promote environmental stewardship, expand access to critical needs and drive economic and workforce development — addressing some of the most pressing needs in the region.
“The Susquehanna Valley is home to passionate people and organizations working every day to uplift their neighbors,” said Jonah Howe, regional affairs director for PPL Electric Utilities. “These grants are a way to support local nonprofits, extending their reach and deepening their impact in the communities they know best. We’re proud to stand alongside these organizations.”
Reflecting the foundation’s commitment to uplifting the places where we live and work, the grants will support initiatives throughout PPL Electric Utilities’ service area in Clinton, Columbia, Lycoming, Northumberland and Union counties.
The Empowering Communities Grants include:
— American Red Cross, Lycoming County
— Bloomsburg Area YMCA
— Central Susquehanna Opportunities, Shamokin
— Clinton County Economic Partnership Foundation, Lock Haven
— Friends of Camp Louise Shickshinny, Shavertown
— Mount Carmel Area Community Center, Mt. Carmel
— Nicholas Wolff Foundation, Millville
— Shamokin Area Business for Economic Revitalization, Coal Township
— Susquehanna Health Foundation, Williamsport
— The Susquehanna Greenway Partnership, Lewisburg
— Weis Center for the Performing Arts, Lewisburg
— Wildlife Leadership Academy, Lock Haven
Looking ahead, the PPL Foundation’s next round of funding — Energizing Education Grants — will focus on creating equitable, high-quality learning experiences for students. These grants support programs in STEM education, literacy, summer learning and college and career readiness. The application window opened on August 1 and will remain open through Sept. 15.
