Vegetable

soup sale

Come and get homemade vegetable soup at the Bald Eagle United Presbyterian Church, 111 Main St., Mill Hall, on Saturday morning, Oct.18, from 9 a.m. to noon. Folks can just drive in the alley and the soup will be delivered to their cars. Soup will be $9 a quart.

Free new shoes

The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will give free new sneakers or other shoes to eligible kids and teens on Saturday, Oct. 18. Those eligible have Compass or a referral from a church, agency or organization and live in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin School area. Blood drives

The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!

Blood drives will be held on the following dates:

On Oct. 16, from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Penn State HUB Heritage Hall, University Park.

On Oct. 22, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Penn State HUB, Hetzel Union Bldg.

On Oct. 27, from 12-5:30 p.m., at the Watermarke Church, Zion Road, Bellefonte.

Howard Civic Club

Howard Civic Club would like to get more members involved with their group. Please consider attending the 6:15 p.m. at the Howard fire hall on Monday, Nov. 3. There is an optional meal preceding the meeting which is self-paid (currently $12). The meal is provided by Jane Bartley, owner of Country Elegance Catering Company. Young Patrons of Husbandry

Centre County Young Patrons of Husbandry, “Y P of H” will be having a Fall Banquet Sunday Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Unionville Grange Hall in Unionville, PA. ServSafe Certification

Penn State Extension’s Kaitlin Pandor is returning to SVRCS campus, 236 E. Main St., Loganton, to instruct ServSafe classes. This will be a 3-part evening class held on Nov. 3, 10 and testing on the 17. All classes will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m. For your fee of $165 you will receive instruction and book and be able to sit for the test on the final evening. Upon successful testing, you will receive your ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate which is necessary for much work in the food service industry and good for five years.
