Leaf Collection

Woodward Township will collect leaves only on Mondays and Fridays through Nov. 24. Residents should rake their piles of leaves to the curb or front yard, keeping away from mailboxes and other items. Do not bag leaves or put leaves into the street.

VFW Bingo

The Howard VFW Auxiliary will be hosting a Cash Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Yearick Center, the Howard fire hall. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. In addition to Bingo there will be a Chinese auction and small games of chance. Food will also be available. Tickets are $25 and are available from an auxiliary member or at the VFW Post on Walnut Street in Howard. Donations for the Chinese auction would be appreciated.

Puzzle swap

Puzzle swap with casual puzzling will be held on Oct. 25, from 1-3 p.m., at the Schlow Centre Region Library in State College. Free parking (at the Library’s parking garage) with validation from inside. They hope to see you there!

LHHS and ICHS Classes

of 1955

Lock Haven High School and the Immaculate Conception High School Classes of 1955 will meet for lunch at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the Browns Hill Tavern in Lamar.

Wayne Township History for sale

The Wayne Township Recreational Committee is offering their book, “A Township Called Wayne,” for a price of $10. This book will make a nice gift for family and friends, especially historians and those with ties to the Wayne Township community. Help Helping Hands Help Others

Helping Hands at United Lutheran Church is a non profit program that helps low income families and senior citizens with items such as toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, laundry care, cleaning items, ect. They are located at the United Lutheran Church in Lock Haven. They are asking for donations to keep our doors open. Any questions, please feel free to call Kelly Olmstead at 272-209-5912. Donations of any items (or financial support for us to buy items) will be a tremendous help for the program.

Food for thought

Would you like to become a Shoe Bank volunteer? The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank is usually open one Saturday a month, when we have the fun of giving free new shoes to eligible kids and teens. We are looking for more volunteers, including people we can call when we are shorthanded. If you’d like to volunteer or just ask questions about it, please text or call Wendy at 570-295-3443.

New Hope Fellowship Room

New Hope Fellowship has a Fellowship Corner Room at its church at 6436 Nittany Valley Drive, Mill Hall. The Fellowship Corner Room is available for your parties, receptions, showers and other small gathering events. The room will seat 60-70 comfortably and offers tables, cushioned chairs, stoves, microwaves, a refrigerator and plenty of counter space and outside parking. Monetary donations are appreciated but are not required for you to use the Fellowship Corner Room. Contact New Hope Fellowship at 570-755-1450 for info.
