Frightfully Fun

Plan to attend The Black Forest Inn, 32600 N. Route 44 Highway, Halloween party on Saturday, Nov. 1, from 7-10 p.m. Jason Dumm provides the entertainment. Expect games, costume contests, great food and ghoulish drinks. This year’s theme is “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

A few seats are available to the American Music Theater’s holiday extravaganza, “Deck the Halls,” on Wednesday, Dec. 3. Travel with the Happy Valley Travelers. Departure will be from the Mill Hall Walmart. Reservations are due by Nov. 1, so call Rita Ruhl now at 570-748-4226 to reserve your seat!

SVRCS Senior Socials

SVRCS’s Senior Socials have returned for the 2025-2026 school year. All seniors are welcome to join the second Friday of each month from October through April — exception for February. The program runs from 12:30-2 p.m. in the gym lobby at 236 E. Main St., Loganton, where the life skills students will greet you and be your hosts! Activities, games, snacks and entertainment will be provided for your enjoyment! Come out and enjoy this special time to fellowship and interact with students. No reservation required. VFW Bingo

The Howard VFW Auxiliary will be hosting a Cash Bingo on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Yearick Center, the Howard fire hall. Doors open at 11:30 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. In addition to Bingo there will be a Chinese auction and small games of chance. Food will also be available. Tickets are $25 and are available from an auxiliary member or at the VFW Post on Walnut Street in Howard. Donations for the Chinese auction would be appreciated.

The Jersey Shore Elks #1057 restaurant is open to the public! Come try the great food prepared by Two Fired Up Guys. They offer more than your typical bar foods; burgers, sandwiches, dinners, salads, wings and much more. Check them out on Facebook for the full menu and daily specials such as Wing Night Wednesday. Hours of operation are Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday 2 p.m.-8 p.m. Closed Tuesday and Sunday.

Seeking sobriety

Seeking Sobriety, a local AA meeting, meets Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 112 E. Main St., Lock Haven. Enter through the door at the end of a walkway on the right of the church. The open meeting features rotating topics with a focus on tools and a mindset for getting and staying sober.
