Bellefonte Gatehouse to be featured on HGTV
BELLEFONTE — A historic Centre County home is going to be in the spotlight this October as it competes for an $150,000 HGTV home renovation against other scary homes in America.
The exact age of the building has been disputed amongst historians, but the gatehouse was constructed between 1858 and 1859 as either a part of Curtin’s law office or as a home of the superintendent for Union Cemetery.
Ed Choma and his wife Kat Momenzadeh closed on the house on March 1, 2025 and shortly after were contacted by their realtor who indicated HGTV had reached out and wanted them on the show. Along with their two children Hugo, 5, and Florence, 2, Ed and Kat currently live full time at the gatehouse.
This season of HGTV’s “Scariest House in America” premiered on Sept. 19, and features three houses across the country in each episode. The gatehouse is scheduled to appear in the show tonight.
Find out by the end of this month whether or not the gatehouse will win against these other homes!
