Veterans Breakfast
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 623 invites veterans to be honored at a buffet-style breakfast for them and a guest at the Beech Creek American Legion, 68 Wynn Ave., Beech Creek, on Sunday, Nov. 9, from 7-11 a.m.. Please RSVP to Sharon Miller at (717) 870-7574 by Nov. 1.
Herb Guild
The Clinton County Herb Guild will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, Nov. 10 at 6 p.m. Donna Krempasky and Gerri Miller will give a presentation on Turmeric and Ginger. Join members to learn about how to grow your own and all the amazing health benefits that they provide. Refreshments provided. Meetings are open to the public and held at Big Woods Bible Church, 241 S. Hanna St, Lock Haven. Please use the rear entrance.
Free new boots
Eligible kids and teens can choose a pair of free new boots at the Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank, inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. The first date is a “Just Boots Day” on Saturday, Nov. 8, for families who have been to the Shoe Bank recently and aren’t yet eligible to return for shoes. All other families will be served Saturday, Nov. 15, when they can choose both boots and shoes. Kids and youth up to age 18, or in high school, are eligible if they have Compass and live in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin School area. Appointments are required and are available from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.. For your appointment, contact Diahann at 814-571-5324 any weeknight from 7-9 p.m.
Blood Drives
The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!
Blood drives will be held on the following dates:
Nov. 5, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Penn State HUB, Hetzel Union Bldg.
Nov. 18, from 12-5:30 p.m., at the American Philatelic Society in Bellefonte.
Dec. 2, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Avery Dennison in Mill Hall.
Happy Travelers’ Trips
