Veterans Day service
Union Cemetery in Bellefonte will hold its second annual Veterans Day service on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 3 p.m. The ceremony will take place by the fountain off High Street, with trumpet players performing Taps throughout the cemetery. Following the service, the cemetery will host its “Light Up the Cemetery” event. Those wishing to sponsor a luminary bag or get more information can contact Brenda Reichert at 814-470-3866. Last year’s display was a beautiful sight, with the roads lined with glowing luminary bags. The Luminaries will be set up prior to the service. They will be visible by about 5 p.m. Bellefonte Cemetery Association asks for no car traffic between 5-6 p.m. for pedestrian use of the roads. Car traffic is welcome from 6-7 p.m. If you would like to volunteer to help with this event reach out at bellefonteunioncemetery.com/volunteer.
Leaf Collection
Woodward Township will collect leaves only on Mondays and Fridays through Nov. 24. Residents should rake their piles of leaves to the curb or front yard, keeping away from mailboxes and other items. Do not bag leaves or put leaves into the street.
