Tree Decorating Contest
Local groups, businesses or individuals are invited to sponsor a five-foot Christmas tree at the Wayne Township Nature Park. You provide the tree, stand and decorations, and the Nature Park will provide the electricity. Trees can be set up between Dec. 8-20. Judging of the decorated trees will be on Dec. 20 at 4 p.m. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded courtesy of First Quality.
Winter Clothing Drive
Millheim Fire Company’s Auxiliary is having a Winter Warmth Drive. Donations of new, gently used and clean clothing are sought, especially winter coats, hats, gloves and boots. Donations can be dropped off at the fire station on Nov. 26, Dec. 3 and Dec. 10, from 6-8 p.m. The clothing will then be given away, free of charge, on Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., when you can come and select the clothing and boots that you need to stay warm this winter.
Leaf Collection
Woodward Township will collect leaves only on Mondays and Fridays through Nov. 24. Residents should rake their piles of leaves to the curb or front yard, keeping away from mailboxes and other items. Do not bag leaves or put leaves into the street.
Use headlights in foggy conditions
PennDOT reminds motorists of Pennsylvania’s law requiring moving vehicles to have headlights turned on when visibility is low due to unfavorable conditions, including fog. When driving in fog, low beam headlights should be used since the high beam setting creates glare and further reduces visibility.
Children’s books needed
The Downtown Lock Haven Rotary is looking for children’s books to put into the Little Red Libraries that are located in six parks in the city. If you have children’s books to donate, please call Diahann G. Claghorn at 814-571-5324 to arrange pickups or drop offs of the books. We thank everyone for supporting our Little Red Libraries on a regular basis!
Gamblers Anonymous
Bellefonte Gamblers Anonymous is meeting on Sundays at 7:30 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church, 216 N. McAllister St., Bellefonte.
