HOWARD
POTTERY
Howard Civic Club will be (weather permitting) at the Howard Post Office tomorrow morning from 9-11 a.m. showing and selling the “Howard” pottery pieces. Stop by and meet the mother-daughter duo of Cathy Fetzer and Katie Aurand, Howard Civic Club members, who are willing to brave the elements to offer the pottery.
There are many different options of pottery that are available including spoon rests, jam jars, mugs and crocks
If you miss them on Saturday, Nov. 15, you can contact any Civic Club member or club president Linda Hanley at 814-280-3013 to arrange a time to see the pieces and prices if you’re interested in purchasing. (They make great Christmas gifts!)
SUPPORT LUKE
Luke is the 14-month-old grandson of Cottage Restaurant owners, Faye and George Courter, who has been diagnosed with neuroblastoma.
The Sugar Valley Lions Club will host a Bingo tonight, Nov. 14, at the Lions/Sportsman’s Club, 55 Sportsmans Road in Loganton, to support little Luke’s fight against neuroblastoma. All proceeds will help cover his treatment at Geisinger Medical Center. Doors open at 6 p.m., and games begin at 7 p.m. Enjoy free food and two chances to win a turkey. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information, contact Elisabeth at 570-725-2148 or Bob at 570-725-3665.
For updates on Luke’s treatment, you can make a friend request on Facebook to Luke’s Journey. There’s also a GoFundMe page that you can donate at. Call or stop by the Cottage Restaurant during normal business hours and folks there will be happy to give updates on Luke. There’s a donation canister at the restaurant to help support Luke’s needs, too!
Let’s all band together and help little Luke kick cancer! Please keep Luke and his family in your thoughts and prayers as well!
YARN
DONATIONS
I noticed the Ollie’s flyer had advertised Red Heart yarn for $4.99 a skein, so I stopped last week to see if it is the right size for our Prayer Shawl Ministry needleworkers to use. The yarn is in different variegated patterns and is the correct size (#4 on the skein wrapper) that we use to make the afghans, prayer shawls, hats, scarves and mittens.
If you’d like to support the Prayer Shawl Ministry by buying several skeins of yarn and donating them, they will certainly be appreciated.
The yarn is in several different colors, and we can use them all! Normally it takes about four or five skeins of the yarn to make a good sized afghan, but even one skein would make a couple hats or a hat and scarf combination.
If you want to buy the yarn and donate it, you can drop it off at the church office, but call Pastor Susan to let her know so that she is sure to be there and can receive your donation so that it doesn’t sit outside. The church office is at the back of the church just inside the wheel chair ramp door.
Pastor Susan can be contacted at the church office at 570-726-4112.
BINGO BENEFIT
The Monument Festival Committee is having a Cash Bingo at KBR Bingo at the Piper Museum in Lock Haven on Nov. 15. The tickets are $20 and will be available at the door. In addition to the Bingo there will be a basket raffle, rip tickets and food available. The doors open at 11 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. Basket and gift card donations are needed to make this benefit a success! The proceeds from this benefit will go to the Monument Church of Christ. To get tickets or to donate a prize, please call Bill at 570-660-5452 or Brenda at 570-660-6871.
If you don’t play Bingo but still want to donate to help the church, that would be wonderful and can be done by contacting Bill or Brenda.
The church will use the proceeds from the Bingo and any donations that are received to advance their outreach ministry of helping others in the community.

Through the America250PA Bells Across PA program, artists from across the Commonwealth have been decorating three’foot fiberglass bells, each one a unique work of art that invites you to touch, explore and connect with our shared story.
Join with friends of the Roland Curtin Foundation and Happy Valley Adventure Bureau as we unveil a brand new bell designed by Elody Gyekis. Gyekis received her BFA in painting and ceramics from Penn State and her MFA in painting from New York Academy of Art. The bell will be located between the Curtin Mansion and Eagle Furnace and will remain in place throughout 2026. This is more than an unveiling–it’s a chance to gather as neighbors, celebrate local artistry and be part of Pennsylvania’s journey toward America’s 250th birthday.
Come celebrate with us, take photos and be part of history in the making!

FEED OUR VETS
The YMCA of Centre County Military Share Food distribution program began in January. This program is available to all veterans and active service members of Centre County where they can get food aid once each month. Unfortunately, the money to support this program to provide food that gets given out is nearly gone. Funding programs have been cut and many veterans and their families depend on this food distribution to help them each month.
Brush Valley New Life Church in Madisonburg is spearheading a food collection drive, and the YMCA is hoping that more Centre County churches, businesses and organizations will commit to help with funding or holding food drives for the Y’s Military Share program.
Pastor Randy Muthersbaugh at the church shared this list of items that the YMCA Military Share Food program needs each month includes the following canned (no glass jars) and non-perishable food items:
Canned corn, canned green beans, canned fruits, soups, spaghetti sauce, applesauce, canned pastas like Chef Boyardee lasagna or ravioli, peanut butter, jelly, canned tuna or chicken, along with boxes of macaroni and cheese, cereal and oatmeal.
Donations can be brought to the church in Madisonburg (call Pastor Murthersbaugh at 814-470-9828) or taken directly to the YMCA.

The shop for free date will be on Dec. 13, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., when you can come to the fire hall and select the clothing and boots that you need to stay warm this winter.
