Helping Hands

Helping Hands at the United Lutheran Church in Lock Haven will be held Dec. 17 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the church behind KFC. Helping Hands helps low income families and senior citizens in Lock Haven and the surrounding communities. Any questions, call Kelly Olmstead at 272-209-5912. Due to the cold weather, the church doors will be opening at 5 p.m.

Model Railroad Christmas

One of several remaining Clinton Central Model Railroad Club Christmas Open House events will be open to the public on Dec. 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the old Castanea Train Station, 15 Logan Ave., Castanea. The event features free admission for all, with donations accepted, and parking is free. This will be the last Open House prior to Christmas. The club will feature its HO Gauge model railroad layout that contains over 2,800 lineal feet of track, dozens of trains and hundreds of cars. Both steam and diesel engines will be operating. Many historically accurate industries and scenes from past years of Clinton County are viewable on the layout such as a paper mill, railroad yard, coal mines, quarries, parks and a drive-in movie theater. Grandparents and parents should bring their kids and grandkids to enjoy this annual event. Small groups can be accommodated as well.

Christmas cookies

Valerie Wynn, of Sweet Sunrise Bakery, will be selling assorted Christmas cookie trays and handcrafted chocolates at Calico Creek on Saturday, Dec. 20, and Tuesday, Dec. 23, until 4 p.m. Prices vary between $1.50 and $35 and will benefit the Mountain Mission School in Grundy, Va. For Bingo lovers

Do you have a Bingo fan on your holiday list? The Rotary Club of Downtown Lock Haven has just the gift — advance tickets for its Cash Bingo, set for Sunday, March 1, at KBR Bingo, 1 Piper Way, Lock Haven. The Bingo will help support CMHS scholarships, and the fun will include a silent auction, 50-50, rip tickets, and food by Citizens Hose Co.
