Free Christmas meal

Great Island Presbyterian Church, 12 W. Water St., Lock Haven, will offer a free Christmas Day meal. There will be one dine-in seating meal available at noon with take out and delivery available at 11 a.m. Those who wish to reserve a seat or place an order can do so by calling 570-748-2810.

Farmer’s breakfast

Breakfast is back at the Porter Township community building in Lamar. On the first Saturday of each month through April, join us for a farmer’s breakfast from 7-10 a.m. On Jan. 3, the breakfast will include eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrapple, hashbrowns, biscuits and sausage gravy, toast, coffee, tea and hot chocolate. The cost of each breakfast is $13 for adults, $6 for kids 6-12 and kids 5 and under eat free. All proceeds from the farmer’s breakfast will be put towards helping community members and giving back.

A Simple Request

Dogwood Circle Garden Club requests that those smokers who walk through the garden at the triangle and enjoy the flowers please take your cigarette butts with you instead of dropping them on the sidewalk or flicking them into the plantings. We have enough to do in maintaining the gardens and don’t need to pick up after you, too. Nothing is ever “thrown away,” just put somewhere else for others to deal with.

Help Helping Hands Help Others

Helping Hands at United Lutheran Church is a non profit program that helps low income families and senior citizens with items such as toilet paper, paper towels, shampoo, soap, laundry care, cleaning items, etc. They are located at the United Lutheran Church in Lock Haven. They are asking for donations to keep the doors open. Any questions, please feel free to call Kelly Olmstead at 272-209-5912. Donations of any items (or financial support for us to buy items) will be a tremendous help for the program.

Food for thought

Would you like to become a Shoe Bank volunteer? The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank is usually open one Saturday a month, when we have the fun of giving free new shoes to eligible kids and teens. We are looking for more volunteers, including people we can call when we are shorthanded. If you’d like to volunteer or just ask questions about it, please text or call Wendy at 570-295-3443.

Starting at $3.69/week.
