LOCK HAVEN — It’s not too late for kids and teens from eligible families to get free new boots, as well as shoes, at the Shoe Bank. There are many pairs of winter boots to choose from.

The Shoe Bank is open by appointment Saturday, Dec. 13, inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven.

Kids and teens from wee ones through high school seniors or up to age 18 can choose a pair of free new boots plus new shoes, new socks, new books and a holiday gift. Everything is free.

Families are eligible if their families have Compass and live anywhere in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin Elementary School attendance area. If the family doesn’t have an active Compass app or Compass paper, they may be referred by an agency, church or organization.

Appointments are available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. To book your time slot, contact Diahann at 1-814-571-5324, any weeknight from 7-9 p.m. You may even text or call her the morning of Dec. 13, just in case there’s a last-minute opening.

If you are ill or can’t keep your appointment for any other reason, please call to reschedule. They do keep a waiting list.

Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation, civic groups, churches, and individual donors.

The Shoe Bank is an all-volunteer organization. Anyone interested in lending a hand is welcome to come and check things out. Volunteers are needed for Shoe Bank Saturdays and for the work sessions held every Thursday afternoon. The Shoe Bank is also looking for people who might be able to step in when a regular volunteer is not available.

For more information, reach out to Diahann, contact Wendy Doherty at 570-295-3443, or find “Lock Haven Shoe Bank” on Facebook.

Please spread the word about Dec. 13 to any family you know who might be able to use this service.
