Free sneakers
The Lock Haven Area Shoe Bank will give free new sneakers or other shoes to eligible kids and teens on Saturday, March 21. For more information and to get your appointment, text or call Diahann at 814-571-5324, any weeknight from 7-9 p.m.
LHHS, ICHS Classes of 1958
LHHS and ICHS Classes of 1958 will have their monthly get together on March 19 at 1 p.m., at Fox’s Restaurant in Lock Haven. All classmates and their guests are invited. Call 570-660-0134 for questions.
Breakfast and Bake Sale
A breakfast and bake sale to benefit Ben Stoltzfus and his family will be held on Saturday, March 21, from 7-11 a.m., at the Porter Township Community Building, the old Lamar Elementary School, located at 216 Spring Run Road, Mill Hall. Ben, the former fire chief at Nittany Valley Fire Co., is battling cancer and hasn’t been able to work for the past year.
Donations of baked goods are needed as well as volunteers to help in the kitchen during the breakfast.
Breakfast meals will be $13 for adults; $6 for children 6-12 and free for little tykes. Call Nancy at 814-571-5168 to donate or help!
Lenten Fish Fries
Holy Spirit Parish in Lock Haven will continue to offer their annual “Drive-thru” Lenten Fish Fries continuing every Friday during Lent except for Good Friday, from 4-6 p.m., on the grounds of the Parish Center at St. Agnes Church. The menu features Haddock (Yuengling beer battered or baked), mac and cheese, stewed tomatoes, coleslaw, bread and dessert. Meals are $17, and individual sides of fish or mac and cheese will be available. The church invites you to their “Ez Drive Thru” for a delicious meal prepared by its parish family, and thank you for your continued support. Questions? Call the parish office at 570-748-4594.
Blood Drives
The American Red Cross urges people to donate blood now. All blood donors are needed, especially those with type O blood. Several blood drives will be happening during the next few weeks that donors can attend. Visit the Red Cross website or call 1-800-RED CROSS to arrange an appointment. Walk-ins are also welcomed!
Blood drives will be held as follows:
On March 16, from 1-6 p.m., at the Tri-County N/C Church in Mill Hall.
On March 19, from 12-5:30 p.m., at the American Philatelic Society in Bellefonte.
Country Jam
The Back Porch String Band’s Country Jam will be held on Sunday, March 22, from 2-6 p.m., at the Yearick Center/Howard fire hall. Country Jam is held the fourth Sunday afternoon of each month except in December. The afternoon of music is free, and those attending should bring a snack to share with others there. A hat is passed for you to contribute a few dollars to thank the Howard Fire Company for allowing the folks to gather there for Country Jam each month.
