LOCK HAVEN — The Shoe Bank will be open Saturday, March 21. Eligible kids and teens may come and choose a pair of new sneakers or shoes and some new socks. They can also choose books to own. Everything is free!

The Shoe Bank is inside Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven, and is generally open one Saturday a month.

The shoe room is set up like a store where kids are the customers. Sneakers and other shoes are available in all full sizes, as well as many half sizes.

Wee ones through high school teens are eligible if their families live anywhere in Clinton County or the Liberty-Curtin School attendance area. The family must have an active Compass app or a Compass paper. Those who don’t have Compass may be referred by an agency, church or organization.

Appointments are required and are available from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. To book your time slot, contact Diahann at 814-571-5324, any weeknight from 7-9 p.m. You may even text or call the morning of March 21st, just in case we have a last-minute opening.

If you are ill or can’t keep your appointment for any reason, please call to reschedule. We do keep a waiting list.

Next month’s Shoe Bank date is April 18.

Funding is provided by the Clinton County Community Foundation, the M&T Bank Charitable Foundation, civic groups, churches and individual donors.

The Shoe Bank is an all-volunteer organization. Anyone interested in lending a hand is welcome to come and check it out. More volunteers are needed for Shoe Bank Saturdays and for the work sessions held every Thursday afternoon. The Shoe Bank is also looking for people who might be able to step in when a regular volunteer is not available.
