A Celebration of Music: Renovo Area Community Choir sets final performance May 3

RENOVO — After 35 years of presenting concerts to the Renovo Area, the Community Choir will be holding their last performance Sunday, May 3 at 2 p.m. at the 7th Street First United Methodist Church.

Along with their Spring and Winter Concerts, through the years the choir has performed at local Flag Day Ceremonies, FFF Queen’s Banquets and Coronations, with the Lock Haven Community Chorus, Veteran’s Day Programs, FFF Follies, Civil War Reenactment Mill Hall, Dedication of the War Memorials Chapman Township, Masonic Dinners, Rotary Events in Scranton and Lewisburg, Memorial Services, Reading Across America Event for the Renovo Elementary students, 100th Birthday Celebration for many of the choir’s former music teacher (Mrs. Williams) at RoseView Nursing Home Williamsport and Ralston, Clinton County Fair Grounds, Elaine Barth’s Christmas Concert, for the Bucktail Medical Center and Susqueview residents, and all starting with the Renovo’s Susquecentennial Celebration in 1991.

Through the years the choir has been fortunate to have their main concerts at Renovo Elementary School, St. Joseph’s Church and First United Methodist Church, with Zion Lutheran Church hosting our rehearsals on Monday evenings. The American Legion Post 442 has been gracious to allow our patrons to use their parking lots for the concerts at the UMC on 7th Street, and in recent years the Renovo Area Women’s Club have served refreshments following our Christmas Concerts. We have received generous donations and grants throughout the years from local businesses to purchase equipment, risers, keyboards and outfits. Special thanks goes to the Clinton County Community Foundation and the Sons and Daughters of Italy.

Dick Heck was the first director in 1991 along with Gloria Edmunds as accompanist. Since then, Nancy Moriarty, Tracy Ogden, Martena Rogers, Diana Welshans, and Brandon Kahley have stepped up to provide accompaniment for every event through the decades! Abby Novak, Bucktail’s music teacher, is the final pianist to share her talent with us.

Many guest musicians and “surprise characters” have also contributed their gifts and time to make our performances memorable for those attending.

You are invited to join us on our musical journey as we sing some of our favorite songs and reminisce about these past 35 years. May the music never end!

Starting at $3.69/week.
