— St. Luke’s United Church of Christ at 1175 W. Fourth St., Flemington, will be holding a large, indoor Yard and Bake Sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bake sale will feature yummy cakes, cookies and other mouth watering foods. Lunch will be served and may be eaten in or taken out. For lunch will be vegetable beef soup, hot dogs, chili dogs, kraut dogs and hamburger barbecues. Soup can also be bought to take home for $8 a quart.

— Centre Hall Fire Company’s First Friday of the Month Bingo. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Early Bird games begin at 6:30 p.m. and regular Bingo starts at 7 p.m. This month the fire company will be helping the HOPE Fund of Penns Valley as their bonus organization. For every Early Bird packet sold, $2 will be donated to the HOPE Fund. Also, proceeds from the basket raffle table will also be donated to the HOPE Fund. This will be the last Friday night Bingo until October.
— Civil War Weekend in Centre County, continuing through May 3. Civil War Weekend is an educational initiative depicting the causes, experiences and lasting impact of the American Civil War. Led by the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association, the weekend aims to deepen understanding of the pivotal Civil War era in United States history.
Events begin this afternoon, with speakers, book sales, live artillery and infantry demonstrations and cemetery tours scheduled throughout the weekend. — Mount Pleasant Cemetery Association of Rosecrans will have their annual meeting on Friday, May 1, at 7 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Bible Church, 4561 Long Run Road, Loganton. All lot owners and those interested in the cemetery’s wellbeing are asked to attend.

— Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Faith Chapel United Methodist Church, 551 Hunter Run Road, Howard. Gently used, good quality clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family are available. Sizes range from infants to 3X and are priced at $5 per bag full.

SUNDAY
— Sentimental Journey to Cub Haven’s Pancake Breakfast Fly-in/Drive-in, at the Piper Airport. Breakfast is offered from 8 a.m. to noon. All you can eat meal includes buttermilk pancakes, sausage links, biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs, potato patty, fruit cup, coffee, tea, OJ and water. $12 for those 13 and older; $6 for ages 6-12 and free for those five and younger. — Blanchard Church of Christ will host a Chicken BBQ fundraiser for Kristy Dolan. Kristy has had a heart transplant and several complications, but is finally home. Proceeds from the fundraiser will help with her travel expenses and medical needs.
MONDAY
— Donations are being accepted for the Howard Fire Company’s annual yard sale. Donations of clean and working items can be dropped off at the fire station today through Wednesday at 5 p.m. The yard sale begins at 8 a.m. on Thursday, May 7.
— Howard Area Lions Club Food Distribution, noon to 3 p.m., at the former Beech Creek Elementary School. Bring a sturdy box (or boxes) with you.
— Dunnstown Fire Company offers a Cash Bingo every Monday night at the fire station at 119 Woodward Ave., Lock Haven. Bingo starts at 6 p.m. and all proceeds help to support the fire company’s needs.
TUESDAY
— Milesburg Food Bank is open from 1-3 p.m., at the Milesburg Presbyterian Church. This food distribution is usually held on the first Tuesday of each month.
— The Covenant Cafe, an activity group for those in the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias, will be meeting from 1 to 3 p.m., at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. The group will participate in a Kentucky Derby horse race and will also be celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a Mexican Hat dance and walking tacos for refreshments.
The Covenant Cafe is a joint venture between the Nurturing, Outreach and Worship Committee of Covenant United Methodist, the Alzheimer’s Support Group and the Alzheimer’s Association. Participants are given an opportunity to be involved in socially and physically stimulating programs which will help them remain as active as possible. — Benefit Auction at Keystate Auctions/the Old School Market for David Stoltzfus who lost his family and home in a tragic house fire in April. Old School Market will be open starting at 4 p.m. so you can get some food and shop until 5 p.m. when the auction will begin. Any donations for this auction may be dropped off at the Old School Market / Keystate Auctions, 34 East End Mountain Road, Mill Hall.
— The Central PA Civil War Round Table will meet in the Activities Room of the South Hills School of Business & Technology, 480 Waupelani Drive, State College, beginning at 7 p.m.
The featured speaker will be Terry Beltz on “Unclaimed Valor: The History of the 130th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers.” In writing his book on this subject, Mr. Beltz was given access to a collection of letters that the 130th PA Regiment’s Colonel Henry J. Zinn wrote to his wife during his military service prior to his being killed at the Battle of Fredericksburg, Dec. 13, 1862. Terry Beltz is a retired Army Colonel with an ardent interest in 19th Century American History, particularly the Civil War. Beltz now lives in Earlysville, Va.
