LOCK HAVEN — Sara Eggler, candidate for Pennsylvania’s 76th Legislative District, spent Saturday, April 11, doing what she believes leaders should do more often: showing up, listening and making sure the voices of the 76th District are heard.
According to a release from Eggler’s campaign, she began her day at Avenue 209 Coffee House where she attended an event held by Gov. Josh Shapiro. Following a speech from Shapiro, Eggler discussed key priorities impacting rural housing in Pa., including accessibility and affordability; along with opportunities for rural communities to fully benefit from the governor’s Housing Action Plan.
“Meeting with Governor Shapiro and his team was truly an honor; this was an important opportunity to ensure our district has a strong voice in Harrisburg and provide housing solutions for rural communities like ours, where new development is naturally constrained, by focusing on preserving and improving older housing stock,” Eggler said in the release.
Following the event with Shapiro, Eggler traveled to Union County, where she hosted a community meet-and-greet at The Barrel on Market in Lewisburg. Residents from across the district were able to gather and talk openly about their concerns, hopes and frustrations.
Eggler listened to stories about rising costs, limited opportunities and the feeling many share — that District 76 deserves more attention, better negotiating power in Harrisburg and consistently fair leadership, according to the release.
“Saturday was about listening, learning and building real connections,” Eggler said in the release. “My experience working and volunteering across our communities has shown me that while party lines may divide us on paper, most of us are working toward the same common goals. We can build a district that works for everyone — that is my goal.”
During her time in Lewisburg, the release noted Eggler voiced her support for open primary elections, aligning with efforts led by Representative Jared Solomon.
“I support Representative Solomon’s push for open primaries,” she said. “Open primaries ensure that voters — regardless of party affiliation — have a voice in choosing their leaders and help produce outcomes that better reflect the will of the majority.”
The release noted Eggler emphasized her commitment to practical, people-first solutions that support working families, expand housing opportunities and strengthen local economies.
