BASD bids farewell to Bellefonte Elementary tonight
BELLEFONTE — The Bellefonte Area School District will bid farewell to the old Bellefonte Elementary School tonight with a community celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m.
The evening will begin with a screening of a documentary about Bellefonte Elementary School, created by Bellefonte Area High School students and staff, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Coloring activities will also be available for children during the showing.
From 6 to 8 p.m., the school building and grounds at 100 W. Linn St. will be open for self-guided tours and photos. Retired Bellefonte Elementary School teacher Steve Klein will also lead guided “Behind the Scenes” tours at 6:30, 7 and 7:30 p.m.
The farewell event will also feature food trucks, a picture station, free books and commemorative ornaments.
The school is set to close at the end of the 2025-2026 school year as students and staff transition to the district’s new elementary school building.
