Beta Sigma Phi celebrates Founder’s Day

SALLADASBURG — The 95th Founder’s Day of Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority was held on April 28, 2026, at Waltz Creamery in Salladasburg. There were 35 sisters in attendance from the four chapters in Lock Haven and Jersey Shore. The 2025-2026 theme was “Angels of Friendship.”

Following the meal, Valentine Queens were honored with red roses. Those recognized included Thelma Caris from Torchbearer Mu, Loretta Worrick from Xi Zeta Pi and Carol Maihle from Xi Eta Theta.

Also honored with yellow roses were those chosen as Girl of the Year by their chapters. Carmen Banfill was chosen by Torchbearer Mu, Rhonda Rhinehart was selected from Xi Eta Theta and Millie Willits represented Laur Alpha Omicron.

Three sisters from Jersey Shore Xi Eta Theta received special certificates to recognize that they have been members of Beta Sigma Phi for 60 years! Those sisters were Linda Laub, Carol Maihle and Sallie Dershem.

Beta Sigma Phi is the world’s largest international, non-collegiate women’s social and service sorority. With over 200,000 members, it focuses on “Life, Learning and Friendship.”
