CU-Lock Haven recognizes faculty with 2026 Outstanding Service and Outstanding Scholarship awards

LOCK HAVEN — The APSCUF-Lock Haven Faculty Awards Committee presented Dr. Heather Bechtold with the 2025-2026 Outstanding Service Award in recognition of her exceptional leadership and dedication.

From her pivotal roles in university governance and tenure reform, to her commitment as Director of the Biology Club and President of the Commonwealth of PA University Biologists, Dr. Bechtold has consistently championed student success and professional excellence. Her tireless service extends into the local community through her work with local schools, outreach education and the arts, making her a truly inspirational recipient of this honor.

The committee also recognized Dr. Tulare W. Park as the 2025-2026 recipient of the Outstanding Scholarship Award, in recognition of her significant contributions to social work, neurodiversity and adult education.

Her prolific scholarly work over the past three years includes two edited books on neurodiversity with IGI Global, numerous peer-reviewed articles and international collaborations. She completed her Doctorate in Education in 2025 and assisted to secure a $60,000 Hunger-Free Campus Grant.

Her crucial role in the BSW program’s successful re-accreditation also underscores her commitment to academic excellence. These achievements exemplify the scholarly excellence recognized by this award.
