YARD SALES
If your town, community or housing development is having yard sales please let me know. Individual yard sales will not be listed, only specific towns or communities. If you put up signs to advertise your yard sales please remember to go back and take them down.
— Mill Hall Community Yard Sales will be today and tomorrow, May 29-30.
— Antes Fort Community Yard Sale date is on Saturday, May 30. The Antes Fort Methodist Church, corner of Fourth and Main Streets, Antes Fort, will have an Indoor Yard Sale / Food Sale beginning at 7 a.m. Food items include baked goods, hot dogs, kraut dogs, chili dogs, mac and cheese, breakfast sandwiches and Mr. Sticky’s sticky buns. Proceeds support local ministries.
— Unionville yard sales will be held June 11-13, Thursday through Saturday, this year.
— Bargains and Blessings Community Closet will be open on Saturday, June 13, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Bossert Chiropractic in Beech Creek, weather permitting. Gently used, good quality clothing, shoes and accessories for the entire family are available. Sizes range from infants to 3X and are priced at $5 per bag full. Bags will be provided.

— Centre Hall Community Yard Sale dates are June 26-27.
FLEA MARKET
The Pleasant Gap Fire Company’s flea market will be held each Thursday through Aug. 20. The flea market will run from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Food, produce, antiques, collectibles, crafts and more will be available at the flea market each week.
Vendors are being sought for the weekly markets. Set up begins at 6 a.m.
There’s also a few bonus flea markets happening on specific Sundays during the summer months. Those Sundays will be June 14, July 12 and Aug. 9.

CLASS REUNION
Lock Haven High’s Class of 1967 will be gathering for their 59th class reunion on June 20, 2026, at 3 p.m., at Joyce Beaty’s house, 153 Beach St., Blanchard. RSVP’s must be received to know how many are planning to attend so enough food for the main dishes can be provided. Those attending should bring a covered dish or dessert to share.
Classmates and their guests should also bring your lawn chairs for more comfortable seating.

VBS INVITE
Marsh Creek Brethren in Christ Church will be having Vacation Bible School at the church on Sunday, June 7, through Wednesday, June 10. All area children (and their parents) are invited. The program is for ages two and up.
On Sunday night, there will be a kick-off picnic starting at 5:30 p.m. with VBS following from 6:30-8 p.m. Hot dogs and ice cream sundaes will be provided. Come and see what other “sweet treats” await!
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings the program will start at 6:30 p.m.
Our theme this year will be “Taste and See that the Lord is Good: Sweet Truths about God.
We always have a good time at VBS, and you will, too! There will be Bible lessons, snacks, crafts and games to enjoy, and our offering goal is again $1,000. There’s a contest between the boys and the girls to see who can bring in the most dimes (Monday night), quarters (Tuesday) and dollar bills on Wednesday evening.
BASKET BENEFIT
A basket raffle benefit will be held on Saturday, May 30, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. The benefit is being held for Marvin Young and his family.
Marvin lives in (rural) Beech Creek and severely hurt his arm in an RTV accident a few months ago. He has had surgeries on his arm and hasn’t been able to work since the accident happened.
This benefit will help Marvin and his family with their monthly living expenses.
Donations of basket prizes and gift cards are needed to make the benefit a success! Baskets can be dropped off at the FCC tonight before the benefit.
LIONS NEWS
— Milesburg Lions Club holds a weekly Bingo every Thursday night at the Milesburg Community Center. Doors open at 5 p.m. and Bingo starts at 6:45 p.m.
— Howard Area Lions Food Bank distribution will be on Monday, June 1. Distribution is handled from the former Beech Creek Elementary and runs from 11:30 a.m. until 2 p.m. Bring a sturdy box (or boxes) with you. The Lions also need empty egg cartons if you have them to bring along.
Centre County food vouchers that can be used at certain farmers’ markets in the area will be handed out at the June 1 Food Bank distribution. Only Centre County residents will be eligible to receive these vouchers. We haven’t received word (yet) on when the Clinton County vouchers will be available, but will let you know. You can check with the Clinton County STEP Office to see if they know when their vouchers would be available.
Centre County residents can also call the Office of Aging in Bellefonte to see if they meet the income guidelines for receiving the farmers market food vouchers.
The farmers market vouchers can be used at the Amish produce stores (like Bald Eagle Produce along Route 150 in Beech Creek), but you must buy foods grown in Pa.
— Howard Lions dinner meeting will be on Tuesday, June 2, at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek at 6:30 p.m. The Snow Shoe Lions Club has also been invited to come!
— Howard Area Lions will host a Blood Drive at the Yearick Center (Howard fire hall) on Wednesday, June 10, from 12:30-6 p.m. Blood donors of all types are needed.
— Snow Shoe Lions Club is having a Celebration for America’s 250th birthday on Saturday, June 20, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., at Snow Shoe Park, 301 E. Sycamore St., Snow Shoe.
So far there’s about 30 craft and food vendors signed up to attend. There will be a craft show, flea market, raffles and a Chinese auction. There will be lots of food including a Chicken BBQ, hamburgers, hot dogs, fries, funnel cakes and more! Come out and support the Snow Shoe Lions Club with their celebration and with their fundraising efforts!
— Snow Shoe Lions have their “Lucky Lotto” raffle tickets on sale now for $5 each for a chance to win $1,000 in Lottery scratch off tickets. The winning number will be the one drawn in the Pick 3 Lottery game on Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Tickets are available from club members or at the funnel cake booth during the June 20 Celebration.
— Howard Area Lions Club offers medical equipment to people who need it, free of charge. Perhaps you’re in need of a cane, crutches, a walker, shower chair, a bedside potty, a wheelchair or even a hospital bed, give the Lions a call. Call Lion Denny at 570-962-3218; Lion Jay at 570-484-1590; Lion George at 814-482-0507 or Lion Bob at 570-660-7564 for assistance. Or, if you have medical equipment in good condition that you can donate to the Lions for others to use, please call a Lion today! Local pick-up can be arranged if need be.
The Lions also accept used eye glasses (prescription or readers) that are distributed to underprivileged countries. Eye glasses can be donated at most funeral homes for Lions pickup or there’s a drop box in the entry of the bank in Beech Creek as well.
MONUMENT FESTIVAL
The Monument Festival will be held on Friday, June 19, from 6-9 p.m., and on Saturday, June 20, from 1-9 p.m.
On Friday night there will be food and Karaoke.
Events kick off on Saturday with a chicken dinner starting at 1 p.m., until sold out. There will be live music, kid’s games and food throughout the day.
Craft vendors are invited. If you’d like to be a vendor you should call Brett Glossner at 570-367-1743.
The festival concludes on Saturday evening with a fireworks show starting at dark.
KBR BINGO BENEFITS
Susan Brownson is hosting a Bingo Benefit for David Stoltzfus at KBR Bingo tomorrow, May 30. The Amish bishop has granted his approval of this benefit. Tickets will be $25 and will be available by contacting Susan at 570-367-9996.
Doors will open at 11 a.m. and Bingo starts at 1 p.m. There will be plenty of good food, including a chicken BBQ at the Bingo hall. In addition to food and Bingo there will also be a basket raffle. Baskets are needed, and we’re asking for everyone’s help in donating a basket or gift card for the raffle. If you can donate a prize for the raffle, please contact Susan to make arrangements for pickup or drop off at KBR Bingo.
On Sunday, May 31, KBR Bingo will host a benefit Bingo for Colette Karstetter who is battling ovarian cancer. Colette is undergoing chemo treatments and the funds raised from this Bingo will help with gas expenses for her medical trips and more! Call Deb at KBR Bingo for info at 570-660-2647.

UPCOMING EVENTS
— Howard Hawks Baseball will have a Chicken BBQ (by Tiny) on Saturday, May 30. The meal will be $15 and includes macaroni salad, baked beans and a roll. Pickup is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Howard VFW. (Meals available while supplies last.)
— Milesburg Museum and Historical Society is offering a free movie night on Saturday, May 30, at the museum, 205 Market St., Milesburg. The movie starts at 8 p.m. Come early for fellowship time!
— Milesburg Food Bank is open on Tuesday, June 2, from 1-3 p.m. This food distribution is held the first Tuesday of each month at the Milesburg Presbyterian Church.
— Blanchard Church of Christ will have their Food Pantry open on June 3. Normally the food distribution would be on June 10, but because the church is having Vacation Bible School during the week, the distribution date has been moved to June 3, from 3-5 p.m., at the church. — Senior Cheer Club will meet at noon on Thursday, June 4, at the Friendship Community Center in Beech Creek. Bring a covered dish to share and your own drink. Bring a wrapped item for the Bingo game. We’ll have fellowship, food and fun. Anyone age 55 and over is invited to join us. Call Larry at 570-726-6635 for more info.
— Food distribution will be on Thursday, June 4, from 4-6 p.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 216 McAllister St., Bellefonte. There aren’t any income guidelines but a few questions are asked for those attending for the first time. — Centre Ballroom Dancing will be held at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte on Sunday, June 14, from 2-5 p.m. The cost is $10 per person and those attending should bring a snack to share. — Pets Come First in Centre Hall is holding a Bingo fundraising event on Sunday, June 14. The Bingo will be held at Mountain View Country Club in Boalsburg. Doors open at noon and Early Bird Bingo starts at 1 p.m. The grand finale jackpot is $1,000!

— Wingate Faith Church will have a blood drive on June 16 from 12-5:30 p.m. The church is located at 111 Runville Road, Bellefonte, which is directly behind the Sheetz store in Wingate and next to Wingate Elementary. Call Janette at 814-883-0893 for details.
— Milesburg Museum is having a bronze sign made that lists the 15 Patriots from Milesburg as well as the 17 founding families of Milesburg to commemorate America250. An unveiling ceremony is being planned for June 28, at 4 p.m., at the Milesburg Post Office. There will be birthday cake, also!
Milesburg was settled in 1760, before the Revolutionary War, and the town proudly boasts that Milesburg had the most Patriots from Centre County!
More info will be coming closer to the Patriot unveiling and celebration date.
— Faith Chapel Church in Hunter Run is having their annual Roger A. White Fun Fair and Silent Auction on Saturday, July 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the church. There will be a moon bounce, games, food, baked goods, a jello eating contest at 1 p.m. and the Silent Auction winners chosen at 2 p.m. Special guests include a balloon artist and the Bald Eagle State Park environmentalists.
