Lehman named BPW Student of the Month for April

JERSEY SHORE — Mya Alyssa Lehman, daughter of Amber and Steve Lehman, of Jersey Shore, Pa., has been selected as the April Business and Professional Women Student of the Month at Jersey Shore Area Senior High School. Mya is recognized for her leadership, creativity, service and strong involvement throughout her high school career.
Mya has been highly active in athletics and student organizations. She participated in basketball during her freshman, sophomore and senior years and played softball all four years. She has also been involved in student council all four years, serving as vice president during her junior year and president during her senior year. In addition, she has participated in FBLA, Constitutional Convention, Homecoming Committee, Key Club, Outdoor Club, Bocce, Tennis, YDTF and Red Cross. Mya also contributed to the Orange and Black yearbook staff for three years and served as an editor her senior year. She participated in Prom Committee decorations during her junior year.
Academically, Mya is a member of the National Honor Society, as well as the National Art, English and Spanish honor societies. She has received the “Most Creative” Award from Key Club and earned recognition from the Art Department for her participation in art camp. She also represented the school during Art Youth Month and has worked the school showcases.
Mya’s commitment to service extends beyond school. She participated in a church missionary trip to Cleveland, Ohio, volunteers in a church nursery and youth group, serves at the Love Center and has painted murals for veterans.
In her free time, Mya enjoys painting, gardening, canning food, hiking, playing travel softball in the summer and working on creative projects that support children and the community.
After graduation, Mya plans to enlist in the military to serve her country for several years. Following her service, she hopes to pursue a career as a travel photographer, inspired by Alexandra Hallman.
Mya’s leadership, artistic talent and dedication to serving others make her a deserving recipient of the April Business and Professional Women Student of the Month honor.
