Heritage Day Festival set for June 13 in Lamar

LAMAR — The 10th Annual Porter Township Heritage Day Festival will be held on June 13 at Recreation Park in Lamar.

This year, in celebration of America’s 250th and the festival’s 10 year milestone, all kids games will be free, as the festival’s way of giving back to the community.

The public is invited to attend the festival and celebration that will run from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The opening ceremony is set for 10 a.m.

Registration for the kids pedal pull is from noon to 1 p.m. at the ballfield, with official pulling set to start at 1 p.m.

There will be games for kids and teenagers at the ballfield from noon to 6 p.m. A bounce house will be set up, too.

There will be a scavenger hunt for kids and their families to participate in.

Magic Andy, the magician, will be on the festival grounds from noon to 3 p.m.

Dave Benner will be telling stories from 3-3:30 p.m.

Throughout the day there will be DJ music courtesy of Scott Eisenhower. Nittany Valley Volunteer Fire Company and Goodwill Hose Ambulance Association will have apparatus on hand and will be giving demonstrations and education.

Many craft and food vendors will be set up for your shopping and eating enjoyment!

Be sure to enter the Scavenger Hunt to have a chance at winning the BIG prize!

Other highlights of the festival include a Civil War Encampment, barrel train rides, a basket raffle, chainsaw carvings by Dookie G. Carver and Jeff Donoughe, face paintings, a petting zoo and more!

Winners will be drawn for the beef and basket raffles at 6 p.m. along with the Scavenger Hunt winner being announced.
