CURTIN

VILLAGE EVENTS

Celebrate summer at Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village! On Sunday, June 28, at 1 p.m., the Curtin Village will be having an Ownership Celebration Day.

Join friends and dignitaries in celebration of the Roland Curtin Foundation’s ownership of Curtin Village. This milestone marks a new chapter in preserving the site’s history. The 1 p.m. program will be followed by a reception. A guided tour of the property will begin at 2 p.m. Come for the celebration, stay for the tour or just come for the guided tour on this special day honoring the site and the people who will keep Curtin Village thriving.

There is no admission or tour fee for this event. Donations are appreciated and directly support preservation and programming at Eagle Iron Works and Curtin Village.

Curtin Village is located at 251 Curtin Road, Howard. More info is available on Facebook or by visiting their website, www.curtinvillage.com. Curtin Foundation President Sue Hannigan can also be reached at 570-220-9290.

Another exciting occurrence will happen for Curtin Village on Monday morning, June 29. A train caboose is being gifted to The Roland Curtin Foundation by John and Joyce Gummo. The caboose is going to be brought up the Bald Eagle Valley from Mill Hall to Curtin. It will be brought across the bridge at Curtin and placed at the Curtin Village historical site. If all goes well, the caboose will arrive at Curtin Village about 11 a.m. on Monday morning. If you want to see this exciting moment in Curtin history, come to Curtin Village before 11 a.m. and watch the caboose make it’s grand entrance.

A special caboose dedication ceremony is being planned for Aug. 9, so mark your calendars for this event at Curtin Village, too!
