The Sugar Valley Lions Club recently celebrated their Charter Night of 49 years of serving the needs of their community. Lion President Robert Mills opened the evening event by welcoming all in attendance followed by the assembly singing the first verse of America. The event was a patriotic themed celebration of America 250 complete with the unveiling of the Club’s banner honoring America’s 250th Anniversary celebration. The banner will then be displayed at our Recreational Park in Booneville. The meal, catered by The Cottage Restaurant, was enjoyed and savored by all in attendance. In addition to members attending were the reigning District 14-G Governor Leona Houseknect, Immediate Past District Governor, Past District Governors accompanied by their spouses and partners in service, as well as many friends and neighboring club members. Keeping with the patriotic theme for the celebration, special guest for the evening was Master Sergeant Seth Conoway, who recently returned home after a 10-month deployment, and was accompanied by his wife, Kathleen, for the evening. Entertainment for the evening was provided by Heather Olson and her husband, Bob, who provides her backup music. Heather performed a selection of patriotic songs, as well as some of her signature Patsy Cline selections. Heather encouraged those in attendance to sing along and many did. It was an evening of celebration that will be remembered long after the meeting ended.
