The best of Clinton County then and now

LOCK HAVEN — Art from the collection of the Clinton County Historical Society will be on display at the Heisey House Museum and the Poorman Gallery as part of the Best of Clinton County celebration this weekend.

On Saturday, June 12, from 5-7 p.m., a wine and cheese reception and art showing will be held at the Poorman Gallery. On Sunday, June 13, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Poorman Gallery and Heisey House will be open to view the featured art.

The Poorman Gallery and Heisey House, both located in the 300 block of East Water Street in Lock Haven, are air-conditioned.

Featured artists include Annie Snyder, Vivian McClain, Ron Maginess and potter John Young, who interpreted his hunting experiences in clay.

Xiao Hua Zhou, another featured artist, decided to interpret her impressions of her new home in Clinton County through her art. When you make a donation to the Historical Society, you can enter for a chance to win her painting of the Farrandsville Furnace. Several of her artworks are for sale.

John Mardis, who works in metal, will have his unique “yard art” on display, with some pieces available for sale.

The Clinton County Historical Society collects and shares the history of the local community. Visit www.clintonpahistory.org for information on upcoming events, membership, donations, research and hours of operation.
